Sky: Away troubles and second halves – Milan must reverse trends to win vs. Lazio

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan must improve in several key areas if they are to end their three-game winless run and emerge from the capital with maximum points against Lazio.

Sky report that Milan the statistics perhaps predictably say that Milan win more at home and therefore have a better points per game average, but they actually score more goals away from home with the results not as good.

The Rossoneri have scored 44% of their goals at home versus 56% away, however the proportion of goals conceded is also very clear: 75% have come away from San Siro.

The record so far among the top nine of the current table says that Pioli’s team are the second-best team in head-to-head matches, with only Inter doing better.

Rather strikingly, it seems that between 61 minutes and 75 minutes of matches is where Milan shut down because they have just four goals scored in that segment of games but 10 conceded.

Milan are far from Inter’s total in clean sheets (16). The Rossoneri and Lazio are seventh in terms of matches without conceding a goal with Juventus, Torino, Bologna, Atalanta and Monza all also having more.

How does Pioli usually do against Sarri? The slate says nine wins for the Milan boss, seven for Sarri and three draws in 19 previous matches. The first dates back a long time: Modena (coached by Pioli) against Pescara (Sarri) in September 2005 in Serie B. Modena won 2-0.

The match against Lazio at the Olimpico tomorrow is one that carries lots of sub-plots, given the overlap in players.
