Sky: Pioli now expected to deploy bold defensive reshuffle vs. Frosinone

By Oliver Fisher -

The latest indications from multiple sources suggests that Theo Hernandez will be used as a central defender tonight against Frosinone, which will cause a reshuffle at the back.

According to Sky (seen below) and MilanNews, Stefano Pioli is now not expected to field Primavera centre-back Jan-Carlo Simic from the first minute and instead the 18-year-old will begin the game on the bench.

Instead, Fikayo Tomori will slide over to the right-sided centre-back position with Theo Hernandez partnering him in a role that he has never played for Milan from minute one.

Then, Davide Bartesaghi is expected to be the left-back in what would be his first Serie A start, having gone on the preseason tour of the United States and with a couple of substitute league appearances to his name so far.

It is certainly a bold call by Pioli to tinker so much with the left side, even with the injury issues, because Frosinone’s main threat Soule players on the right.

    1. And the soup tastes like sh!t. Why no Simic? Why does he do everything possible not to give our best primavera players time? Pioli is a coward.

      1. He is such an idiot, man, isn’t Simic’s agent Riso? I won’t be surprised if he decides to leave Milan. He will play Theo as CB but not Simic who was able to held his own against Juve and Madrid.

  1. Pioli should try Krunic at CB and Musah at RB again, that went great last time.

Is this Salam trying to get fired?

Maybe Simic is friends with Adli, so Pioli said no.

  2. No surprises for me there…like I keep saying Pioli cannot manage a competitive squad.

Worse…even when we have injuries he doesn’t see past the fact that players like simic are available instead he is playing players out of positions.

I will be watching again as always so I get to see the game first hand as always.

  3. So rather than have a young player playing in a familiar position flanked by two starters in their natural positions he’d rather play a young inexperienced player in an isolated position flanked by one out of position starter. Seems totally rational

  4. would have put RLF to Calabria’s side Raindeer in the middle.

this is what should have wemt down against Dortmund. But you could have used Florenzi if he didn’t trust Bart. Put Krunic in for Musah
