Sky: Bundesliga defender to leave on free transfer amid interest from Milan

By Euan Burns -

Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka is set to tell the club that he will not renew his contract and wishes to find a new club in the summer transfer window, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Deutschland (via Milan News), the French defender looks like he will be on the market for free in the summer transfer window which could be great news for AC Milan.

Milan have been linked with Ndicka for a very long time, as have Inter and AS Roma as well as clubs outside of Serie A.

Frankfurt are already looking at Konstantin Mavrapanos as a replacement for Ndicka but they will not be receiving any transfer fee for the 23-year-old who has made 26 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, as well as eight in the UEFA Champions League.

It could well be a saga that rumbles on throughout the summer with so many clubs linked.

  1. We wont get him. Big clubs after him and we wont win salary war. And we also don’t need another center back

We need left back to back up theo. Thats it. No right back, no center back. But a fkn vice theo

    1. Ndicka can also play as a left back.
In my opinion, that’s what we should be going for as a deputy to Theo: someone who can also play another position and therefore won’t rot on the bench, as that won’t be in anyone’s best interest.
I hoped that guy would be Dest, but Pioli forgot about him.

      1. Dest is too pricey anyway as I believe his buyout is more than 20m.

And he is not too suited to our play, you can see how he is average in times he played.

  2. Sign him and let Gabbia leave. That gives you 4 solid CBs with Tomori, Thiaw, Kalulu, and Ndicka. Kjaer is getting long in the tooth and Kalulu can play as a vice to Theo in a pinch or back-up RB with Calabria/Florenzi if needed.

Also gives you rotation for a 3 CB pairing as Pioli toyed with that would allow for Tomori/Thiaw/Ndicka/Kalulu playing there and Theo/Salesmaekers playing the Wing-Back slots.

Answers a lot of needs and you can move on from Gabbia who has not proven himself at this level.

    1. Gabbia has been solid if unspectacular in time he played. Good enough back up, and he is homegrown player, which we need to compete in Europe. Which Ndicka isn’t, mind you.

    2. Gabbia leaving is a bad idea. He is good enough as a backup player and will only improve. And he is a home-ground player. Unless he asks, Milan should never let him go.

  3. We should deffently try to sign him but i doubt we can persuade him as there will most likely be huge offers of salary and sign on fees that we wont be able to match from richer clubs but worth a try.
I think he will end up in either bayern, epl or maybe in spain or paris. He would be a great addition though and worth the pursuit, Pretty much the same with thuram.

  4. If ACM wish to move a level up then it makes absolute sense to do their best and sign both Ndicka and Thuram even by offering higher wages than our current salary cap.
If we are to get back being a top club again then it is inevitable that our team wages will significantly increase. It is just a matter how we do that eg to whom we to spend them on. Keeping Leao is a good starting point.

  5. Ummmm….ya while it would be nice….it’s not happening. Liverpool and other EPL clubs want him and will offer much more salary than we will. On to the next. What would be a shame is if we miss out on Aouar and he goes to Roma instead on a free and for a reasonable salary (3M)…

  6. For the style of play that Milan prefers, I think a left-footed center back is almost a must to have. We play out from the back very often and I have noticed how many situations gets tougher because Tomori cannot play the ball out on his good side when it’s suitable. N’Dicka would definitely be a good addition in central defense and he could cover for Theo on left back as well
