Sky: Calhanoglu rejects big offer from the Middle East but Milan’s stance has not changed

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have no intention of raising their offer to playmaker Hakan Calhanoglu and are now awaiting his response, according to a report.

Calhanoglu’s contract is set to expire at the end of the month and there is little to suggest that he is set to sign a renewal nor that it is moving in a positive direction, meaning he could realistically face the same fate as Gianluigi Donnarumma and leave on a free transfer.

According to Luca Marchetti’s latest for Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Calhanoglu had a big offer from the Middle East and he has decided not to accept it because it does not appeal to him at this stage in his career. However, Milan will not participate in auctions to tell Calhanoglu that he is important to them as they believe their current offer already does that.

If Calhanoglu wants to stay at Milan he must accept the Rossoneri’s offer, but with the Donnarumma case the Rossoneri have shown that they have a clear strategy in mind and that they do not want to pay more than what they believe a player is worth.

  1. maybe it is possible to slightly increase the offer to try to convince him to renew, let´s say 4,5 mill. If we can renew, it would benefit us because then we don’t have to spend huge money on a replacement attacking midfielder, money that we might need to strengthen other areas: striker, right winger and deep midfielder backup.
