Sky: Emerson could be unveiled to fans ahead of Monza friendly

By Euan Burns -

Emerson Royal could be paraded around the San Siro with Alvaro Morata and Strahinja Pavlovic on Tuesday when AC Milan face Monza in their final pre-season friendly of the summer.

As reported by Sky Sport 24 (via Milan News), the Brazilian right-back is very close to signing from Tottenham Hotspur and any fans present at the Silvio Berlusconi Trophy match could be the first to see him.

He is not involved in Tottenham’s friendly against Bayern Munich because a deal has been struck between the two clubs for him to become Milan’s third senior signing of the summer transfer window.

He is expected to undergo his medical test on Monday but the official announcement of the former Barcelona player could be held until he appears on the pitch at San Siro to greet the fans. The situation is already planned for Morata and Pavlovic, but Emerson may join them.

It is not clear whether the deal can be confirmed quickly enough for him to also play in that match, but if he did it would almost certainly be from the bench given he won’t have been able to train with his new teammates.

Emerson is expected to wear the No.22 shirt and compete with Davide Calabria for the right-back spot.

  1. And what would be wrong if we gave the man at least a little time and a chance to prove himself !? It is an incredible fact that there are people here who just write comments and know more about football than the highly paid coaches and managers of the world’s biggest clubs! What a failure that such a talent goes unused.

    1. you think everyone in football is special because they’re high earners? all i need to know to not value your opinion.

    1. That is the reason Milan got him. There is a misconception about Emerson. He is not another Theo on the right. His best quality is in defense. He is fast and strong in duels.
With the ball he is ok, but we should not expect Cafú.
