It feels like an eternity since Ismael Bennacer was seen on the field in an AC Milan shirt, but some updates on his recovery process have arrived.
Manuele Baiocchini spoke on Sky (via PianetaMilan) and he confirmed that Pierre Kalulu will be back for the first game after the break against Juventus, while Rade Krunic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are expected to recover too.
The journalist went on to speak about Bennacer’s current condition, given he has spent the last few months out following a knee operation that was a rather complex one.
“Also pay attention to Bennacer, who is close to returning after the many months in which he has worked alone with a physiotherapist, outside Italy, to also strengthen the muscle,” he said.
“We know that he had this very bad cartilage injury and will only be able to return to the field in the new year, hopefully at the beginning. In the next few days he is expected to his return to Milanello to start working with the team.”
Baiocchini went on to discuss the areas that Stefano Pioli and the rest of the coaching staff might be looking to address between now and the game against Juve in eight days.
“Milan has strengthened the defence probably also by improving the filter in midfield. Now the Rossoneri are trying to improve all the other aspects.
“If it is true that Milan has won more than anyone else, he has scored more points than anyone else and is second in ball possession, many other aspects can be improved.
“One of these is, for example, the number of tackles per game, where Milan is only nineteenth in our league. Maybe there needs to be more malice.”
After the Juve game on October 22 there are two very important matches against PSG and Napoli to come, so hitting the ground running after the break is imperative.
Can’t wait for Bennacer to return we actually can have a nice midfield with him in the middle.
