Sky journalist claims Milan were unhappy with Conceicao leaving for Portugal

Several pundits believe that AC Milan head coach Sergio Conceicao has not had the desired impact from a tactical point of view and therefore could leave at the end of the season.

Conceicao arrived at the end of December to try and rescue what has been a difficult campaign for Milan, especially in Serie A. The results have improved with an average of two points per game in the league since he came in, yet a lot of the inconsistencies remain.

As a reminder, Conceicao signed an 18-month contract with Milan when he replaced Paulo Fonseca but there is a break clause in favour of the club after six months, i.e. at the end of the current campaign.

As Calciomercato.com report, there continues to be some concern about whether Conceicao has a long-term future at the club or even one beyond June. On Sunday evening, journalist Carlo Pellegatti commented on Pressing on Canale 5.

“The best player on the pitch in Pioli’s Milan was not Leao, but the style of play that allowed them to win a league title, finishing ahead of Inter.” His colleague Riccardo Trevisani agrees: “Pioli was better than Paulo Fonseca and Sergio Conceiçao, who I think he will say goodbye to at the end of the season.”

On Sky Calcio Club, Fabio Caressa revealed something interesting: “According to what we understand, the club didn’t take Conceiçao going to the funeral of the former president of Porto [Pinto da Costa] very well.

“After all his statements, aren’t you pushing the envelope too much? On Tuesday at San Siro there’s the match against Feyenoord in the Champions League… Leao, who is often criticised, is first among Milan players for expected goals without penalties, shots and expected assists.”

He is referencing the fact that Conceicao opted to return to Portugal to attend Pinto da Costa’s funeral after learning of his passing on Saturday night after the game against Verona. Zlatan Ibrahimovic even admitted the coach was ’emotional’, having been very close to him.

Former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi echoed Caressa: “Conceiçao uses Leao as a strategic weapon, when he puts him on the bench it’s not as a punishment, but because when he comes on he makes a difference.”

  1. Italian sports journalist are very irresponsible, their is no way he will go to Porto without requesting for, and the Club not agreeing for him to leave, definitely they had both agreed on it, and the time of his return agreed upon, for a sky journalist to say these things, then we need to understand the unprofessional nature of this journalist, he is fond of saying ridiculous things that are totally inappropriate and unprofessional, that can bring chaos to the Milan eco system, he should be ashamed of himself.

  2. Italian journalists know little about football, they talk nonsense and are attached to the story of formations. When he replaces Leao
and Theo, they criticize that they were replaced, and when they leave them on the field, they criticize that they were not replaced. They are the best in intrigues and inventing affairs. They do their job very poorly.

  3. “The best player on the pitch in Pioli’s Milan was not Leao, but the style of play that allowed them to win a league title, finishing ahead of Inter.”

    Finally, the truth is spoken.
But, but, don’t you remember that one season when Leao was the best player in the league?
Leao was never the best player in the league. Milan won the scudetto because they played better than any other team as a unit, just like if Napoli wins the scudetto this season.
Different players stepping up at different stages of the season. Maignan was great all season long, while Giroud stepped up in the most important games.

    1. Leao is Milans best player in last 5 seasons by far. You can write whatever you want, but then things come up. Most assists in Serie A in last 5 seasons, in front of Barella. How? He is such a bad player. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

      1. Ha ha ha.
        Changing of narrative?
Just few days ago you were telling me that Leao was the best player in the league, now you are downgrading to the best player over the last 5 years. Well no sh!t genius, since he and Theo are the only players that has been at Milan for 5 years, the rest are new. That’s called context. And you thought you had something going on ha ha ha.
Last 2 seasons Pulisic is Milan best player.
When it comes to assists, he plays as a forward and he again is one of the few players that has been in serie a for all 5 years and stayed healthy. SMS gone, Hakan who averaged around 10 assists a season plays in front of the defense the last 3 years. Dybala always injured. Berardi who averaged over 10g and 10 assists for almost a decade plays in serie B and missed most of the last 2 years in serie A because of injuries. During Leao fraudulent mvp season Berardi just in serie A had 15 g and 17 a, Leao in all competitions has never had a season with that many goal contributions. That’s pathetic.
Leao is basically the tallest midget.
And people celebrate what, Leao having 35 assists in 5 years. Whoa, give him the Ballon Dor. What is that 7 assists per season? With his laziness he probably caused Milan to concede more than 7 goals a season.

        1. Now, I said that season when Milan won the Scudetto. Not in general. Don’t lie. Not nice to lie.

Wait wait, so that is so bad, you want to say every other player in Serie is really bad? Since they have even less than Leao? Man, you have some real issues in there, find some help.

          1. You said Leao was the best player in the league.
He was never the best player in the league, scudetto season or not. You are trying to backtrack your lies.
            Serie A is trash.
You mentioned Barella. You are comparing a box to box midfielder with a forward that how desperate you are.
Barella contributes both offensively and defensively for his team and only has 3 less assists over that period than Leao who is contributing zero defensively, matter fact he is hurting the team defensively and is barely bater than Barella offensively.
            Pathetic fanboyism

          2. Where? You can easily copy paste what I said.

Barella is second in assists, I didn’t mention him he mentioned himself by being 2nd. But where are other wingers, attackers? What are you mumbling about again? Again you are making up stupid things. Oh, but he is a midfielder, ok. Why isn’t there another player ahead of him or Leao? There is a lot of wingers, attackers, what is going on? 😀 Can you at least try and write something relevant?

          3. Like every argument you make is dege* level. Try something normal, so I have actually something to reply to. You want to present I am using Barella to up Leao, and what happened is that during Milan – Verona the stat was showed. Most assists in serie A in last 5 years and Leao was first, Barella second. How would you write something that makes sense when you can’t even read??

          4. Genius, because there is so much turnover in serie A, Leao is one of the very few players that has been in serie A for 5 seasons. Of course he will have higher numbers than the other wingers, he has played more SEASONS than them. What other winger has been in serie A that long? Think before you write. Pulisic is new, just like Lookman, Thuram, CDK, etc.
What? Are you bragging that Leao has better numbers than Zaccagni and Politano. There are probably the only other wingers that had been in serie A for 5 seasons. This is a joke.
As I said, the tallest midget.

          5. If you don’t understand football.
Barella is a box to box midfielder. He runs his ass off both on offense and defense.
Leao plays closer to the goal and contributes only on offense. When you play closer to the goal you will have more opportunities to have goals and assists. Do you understand it now?
Yet, Leao only has 3 more assists than Barella which as I said has him at 7 per season out of 38 games. 7 assists per 38 games. You are glorifying mediocrity.
Great wingers like Raphinha have 24 g and 15 assists with 3 month left in the season, Salah 28g 19a with 3 months left in the season, while we have low standard Milan fans glorifying Leao having 7 assists per season during a 5 season period. And rejoicing that he has better numbers than Zaccagni and Politano.
            👏👏👏
            Pathetic.

        2. “Last 2 seasons Pulisic is Milan best player.” Well numbers don’t say that. Statistically he is same as Leao, but when you watch them we both know it isn’t like that. Hard to admit but those are facts, you can make up injuries and someone being in Serie B, but why isn’t Leao injured or playing in Serie B? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 You’re a big joke, I love reading your rants that are baseless and can be disproven with 3 smileys and 2 words.

          1. You are so pathetic it is embarrassing.
Oh the number don’t show that Pulisic is Milan’s best playert since he and Leao got the same numbers. Ha ha ha read that again. You thought again that you came up with something intelligent.
Pulisic who is new in the league and came off barely playing the last 3 years has the same numbers as according to you the best player in the league or Milan’s best player. Leao is getting benched for being trash by 2 different coaches, Pulisic isn’t.
I don’t need to make up anything. Players get injured. Berardi tore his ACL last season which led to Sassuolo being relegated, while missed most of the 22/23 season because of various injuries and yet Leao only has 5 more assists than him over the last 5 seasons. Read that again. Pathetic.
You are so far gone that you don’t even understand how pathetic you sound. Stop writing you are making it worse on yourself.
Everything i wrote is based on facts, you are just ranting as any other little emotional fanboy with no facts just hurt feelings.

          2. No it shows that Milan has 2 great wingers and you’re such a pathetic attempt of a human being that you can’t admit that. That is the problem, I like Pulisic, I am just not special like you to use him to say someone else is bad. You’re are a child, at least mentally. You can’t accept Leao is a great winger, you’d rather die, correct? Because you are a sick person. That is the whole problem. Not me thinking Leao is a more useful player in attack than Pulisic.

          3. Cannot Rely on STATS alone to VALUE A PLAYERS WORTH……. PULI IS SO MUCH MORE VALUABLE THAN LEAO IF YOU MUST COMPARE !!!!! ( PLAYS DIFFERENT POSITIONS,OFFENSIVE THREAT, AND PLAYS DEFENSE ) DUMB ASSsssssssss

        3. I don’t think Leao ever lives up to his full potential, which might as well because this is the only version of Leao Milan can afford.

I’d be open to selling both Theo and Leao (although no one is breaking the door at Milan with loads of cash) to rebuild around the next gen – Puli, Reijnders, Santi.

The problem is, I don’t know that I would trust this management to reinvest that money properly. If you’re selling Leao, you need to have the replacement ready because even without this inconsistent version of the Portuguese Milan would drop down into the lower half of the table.

          1. I agree. I think people’s expectations actually hurt Leao b/c he doesn’t have that “prove them wrong” attitude and people have put the expectation of CR7 level goal scorer on him which is wrong. If you look at him more like an Ozil then he’s worth 120 mil but if you look at him as a CR7 he’s worth 40 mil. So how you brand or sell your product is just as important as what your product actually is. I think Milan got it wrong with how they’ve treated Leao and allowing the coaches to demand unrealistic things from him. He loves getting assists, he does not have a striker’s desire for goals. Hopefully we can get something in between those numbers like maybe 80 mil would be great.

    2. You are literally going through the articles and you commented on the only one where there was something you can spit on Leao. You aren’t only a pathetic fan, but a really really pathetic person. Grow up, and grow a pair in the process.

  4. This coach is not up to coaching a big club. Can’t handle the pressure. Doesn’t want to answer questions before the game or after. I wouldn’t want to answer for these horrible performances either, but it’s part of the job. He can’t leave here soon enough.

      1. Keep making excuses for him.
When we get bounced out of the Champions League tomorrow by an inferior team with a new coach who’s been there all of 2 games, what will your excuse be then? He just needs some more time…
The performances are getting worse every match.

    1. Yes, they should get a new manager every week and if he doesn’t please you, he should be fired and new onee brought. Evveryone knows it takes a week to get everything in place. This guy got 3 months and he didn’t do anything but get Milan close to CL spots again. He shouldn’t be fired but he should get jail time as well, right?🤣🤣🤣🤣

      1. How many games now , 13? How many good performances? Maybe 1. How many utterly terrible performances? Almost every single match. In all these matches how many goals have we scored in the first half? The team has never looked worse. Trailing in almost every match. If not for some lucky last minute miracle comebacks we would’ve won maybe two matches that he’s coached. Fonseca had us in very good position to finish top 8 in Champions League, now that has been ruined. Not to mention the incredibly ugly style of football we are playing. Constantly grabbing the opponents, picking up half a dozen yellow cards per match. Our players diving and flopping all over the pitch trying to draw fouls and penalties rather than just creating some offense on their own. It’s a real joy to watch.

      2. Forgive him, he’s taking it really hard since Fonseca got fired. His last straw for an argument is we could have gotten top 8 in the UCL 🥲, never mind the sh!t show of being in 8th in the league under the Fonz… he’ll just ignore that. Offer more sympathy and condolences, it might make him feel better

  5. lol yeah Milan is so mad he went to Portugal for the funeral of his friend, did Milan tell you that or is the ragebait good for your dumb newspaper?

You can see how easily some people even here are manipulated

    1. The worst part is that like you say some people believe this. Thats why i think sempre Milan should take some responsibility for what they are sharing.
They are part of this toxic fandom thats going on in here.

  6. Since Milan signed Joa felix and Gimenes to much rumors have been coming out. Journalists need to chill and Milan as whole need to keep there eyes on there enemies.

  7. Milan doesn’t play like a unit
When under pressure, some of the boys try to be ,, il Salvatore de la patria”
Unfortunately we don’t have such quality players like Kaka,Pirlo, Seedorf, Shevchenko, who were able to overturn in our favour a difficult game. Apologize for not mentioning other famous names.
Feyenord plays like a unit as we learned last week.
    That’s their power.
The coach flew to attend the funeral of his former club president.
    We must show respect!!
A few hours less with the team, won’t change facts
    Let’s be optimistic!!
