There are doubts about the fitness of Rafael Leao ahead of Thursday night’s game against Manchester United, a report claims.
The injury situation that head coach Stefano Pioli has had to juggle has been very heavy in recent weeks and Leao came off during Sunday night’s 1-0 defeat to Napoli. According to Sky (via MilanLive), the Portuguese forward complained of thigh discomfort and Pioli replaced him as a precaution to avoid any worsening of his situation.
Sky report that it is simple muscle fatigue and no tear or pull. His call-up for the game against United however remains in the balance and tomorrow’s final training session will be decisive, when the player will be evaluated after the physiotherapy sessions he will undergo.
Regardless of his fitness it will be Ante Rebic who starts as he will miss the match against Fiorentina on Sunday due to suspension. Pioli therefore is unlikely to risk Leao regardless of his clinical situation to try to have him at his best in the very delicate match against Fiorentina.
