Sky: Milan grant Atalanta extension on €22m De Ketelaere clause – the latest

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have agreed to give Atalanta more time to decide on whether or not to use the option to buy that they have for Charles De Ketelaere, a report claims.

According to the latest from Sky, Milan have granted Atalanta the possibility to exercise their option to sign De Ketelaere permanently until 20 June, whereas the previous deadline – as established by league ruled – was midnight on June 14.

At the moment Atalanta have not yet bought the Belgian despite a positive season because the management want to obtain a discount from Milan on the €22m figure that was agreed just under a year ago.

Having arrived in Italy in the summer of 2022 as the marquee signing of Milan’s post-Scudetto summer window, he failed to score in his debut season at Milan and thus was loaned to Atalanta to try and get some confidence back.

Under Gian Piero Gasperini he amassed a total of 14 goals and 11 assists across all competitions, scoring in each competition that he played in and helping La Dea to a memorable Europa League win.

It must be recalled that earlier today Sky reported that the Rossoneri are unwilling to give any discount on the €22m agreed, precisely because of the great season he had and his potential.

  1. This is just the beginning, in a few days it will be a 5 million discount, a reduction on the resale clause and everything to be paid in 3 yearly installments. SMH.

    1. They can’t discount his price or they will take a loss on him. It has to be at the numbers agreed or he comes back and Milan sell him on elsewhere.

  2. This management is funny. Atalanta have seen it all. Is it that Dkatalaree is so useless that we can’t make use of him at all ??? Why are we allowing this kind of bull shi* from Atalanta??

    1. It’s clear the management hasn’t put in the work to try and shop him to other clubs, almost certainly we could get more so why give them an extension?

  3. We shouldn’t go soft with a beggar club. It’s so clear that they also didn’t expect CdK could perform at this level. With a new coach, I think it can be a good chance for him earning his worth at Milan again.

  4. Atalanta know fully well that there is no space for CDK at Milan and that there is a lot of deadwood potentially coming back. Them pulling this stunt is to test Milans resolve to see how desperate they are to sell…with CDK’s numbers this past season it should be a no brainer, otherwise we can sell to the Premier league

    1. there is absolutely space for CDK at Milan. Having more depth with European competitions is always a good thing especially when it is free. Its a different coach, no ill will. Logically, they are buying good will for the future transactions with Atalanta without giving up any money at all…its Atalanta is who playing a weird game with a player who wanted to be there who they are basically saying they don’t value at 22M…thats not a good look for them…

  5. 80 mil budget(CDK discount for Ederson discount, CDK 11 mil and 20 mil is 31mil, and Atalanta want 40)
    ST CDM CB
    ST-Zirkzee(45 mil)
    DM- CDK+20mil for Ederson(65 mil)
    Pobega&salaemakers+15mil for buongiorno (70 mil)
This is a bit of a stretch, for a couple reasons but this is not that much, but I will say where I was stretching.
    1. Zirkzee, the commission will be higher than 5 mil
    2. 22mil(market value of salad and pobega) and 15 mil(37 mil total) probably won’t be enough to get buongiorno
