Sky: Milan refusing to give up on €55m-rated forward target

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan will try for Angel Correa until the last day of the transfer window, according to Sky Italia’s Peppe Di Stefano.

Widespread reports have suggested that the Argentine is the main target for Milan between now and the end of the mercato on September 2.

However, the Rossoneri remain at a standoff with Atletico Madrid: Milan are only willing to offer €40m plus bonuses, which is at least €10m short of the asking price.

A deal appears to be no closer to completion despite Correa’s will to move to San Siro and with personal terms having already apparently been agreed.

Now, Di Stefano has offered an update on Correa and the future of Milan’s attack.

“Everybody says that Leao is a phenomenon, even those who have trained him say that he could make absurd numbers. Tactically, he must work and improve.

“In theory he will be the ideal support for Piatek. Personally, I have no illusions for the 30 goals scored last year [by Piatek], nor for the zero goals scored in the pre-season.

“A balance must be found, because Giampaolo asks the Pistolero to do different things compared to the 4-3-3 played under Gattuso.

“Correa? From Milan it transpires that more is needed in the middle of the field. Maldini and Boban have followed the Argentine from the first day of the market and they will try until the last one.”
