Sky: Milan to stand by Pioli for the moment but pressure is building

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan are not going to part ways with head coach Stefano Pioli in the wake of the 2-2 draw against Salernitana on Friday night, but the situation has certainly gotten more serious.

As has been reported by Sky Sport Italia (via Milan News), the Rossoneri are going to stand by their coach and give him at least one more game in charge of the team.

The draw with Salernitana only happened because of Luka Jovic’s late equaliser, meaning they very nearly lost to a team many feel are destined for Serie B.

The repeated injuries and the inconsistent form that has seen Juventus and Inter pull away from the Rossoneri means that Pioli is under increased pressure.

There have been serious reflections on his position during the morning, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic expected to be one of the people central to whatever decision is taken.

Milan’s next match is against Sassuolo at San Siro on December 30. That is the sort of game Milan must win and were they to do anything but, it would not be a surprise to see Milan part ways with Pioli in an attempt to salvage the season and make sure that they at least finish in the top four.

  1. they keep giving “trust” to a dude who got us to 5th place last season. The f do they expect to happen?

we’re lucky af that Napoli, Lazio and Atalanta are also underperforming

  2. Who is available to replace Pioli? Ralf Rangnick. Antonio Conte won’t before next summer and he’s most likely going to juventus to replace Allegri.

I believe Pioli will stay until next summer..

  3. I think the management will prefer to have overhaul on staff in the summer rather than looking for short term new coach.
Constant injury crisis season in and out should be enough reason to change the coaching staff.
Hope milan can find better coach..
    Forza Milan

  4. Yep, Management and Coach absolute clowns. Not sure why Ibra would put his name to this circus, but what do we know eh!

At this point, Pioli could get 1 more point in the next two games and they will still keep him.

  5. A while ago when talking about Piolis limitations I asked what success for this team looks like. I asked if crashing out of the UCL was success. If fighting for 4th was success?

Pioli is and was the problem dating back to January. No one has addressed it until the season was jeopardy.

This is what I am reserving judgement for the ownership.
