Sky: Pioli appears to have made his decision on who will play left-back vs. Empoli

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli appears to be leaning towards the most natural solution to replace Theo Hernandez for the game against Empoli, a report claims.

On Saturday against Empoli, Pioli will have to do without Theo Hernandez who will not be available due to a strain he sustained in the long adductor of his right leg that came in the last league match against Napoli and forced him to miss international duty with France.

There have been reports over the last few days proposing several hypotheses regarding how to cover for Theo’s absence, including the idea of switching to a three-man defence or even moving Davide Calabria or Sergino Dest to the opposite flank.

According to Sky (via MilanNews) however, Ballo-Touré should replace the French left-back against Empoli on Saturday night in Tuscany. Given he has barely played for Milan so far in the year of 2022, it will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on.

      1. Bakayoko is not shit. It’s just that he needed time to get used to Pioli’s system just like what he did during Gattuso days. But Milan can’t give him that playing time because they don’t want to buy him outright. He is expensive.

        1. When was the last time Bakayoko played well? I think it was on his 1st Milan stint and how many years ago was it? If he “is not shit” then why has he played a single good match in the last 4-5 years? Must be the manager’s fault every time?
