Sky: Pioli considers using Ballo-Toure as a winger against Spezia with two selection dilemmas

By Oliver Fisher -

Some interesting team news has arisen on the even of AC Milan’s trip to Liguria to face Spezia, as Rafael Leao might be given some rest.

Speaking to Sky Italia (via MilanNews), Manuele Baiocchini gave the latest news from Milanello and confirmed that head coach Stefano Pioli is studying the possibilities for the match against Spezia from a tactical and selection point of view.

In the match against Thiago Motta’s side, winger Rafael Leao could rest and in his place Fode Ballò-Tourè could be deployed in an advanced position as a left winger, with Theo Hernandez the left-back in this situation.

Not only that, but there is another selection doubt to resolve as Davide Calabria is available for the game, so Pioli is deciding between fielding the Italian or giving Pierre Kalulu the nod again after positive performances against Juventus and Venezia.

    1. Agreed! That’s where Deschamps had him two weeks ago and he seemed sure with the decision. At the same time, I’d like Pioli to not rush Calabria back, Kalulu has been splendid and I see him possibly also scoring tomorrow.

  1. Toure could be useful as a winger and in some cases the coach can also use Theo as winger while Toure can also play midfielder’s role

  2. Toure looks more of a defender than a forwarder. But Theo is more of a forwarder than a defender. Therefore, play Theo forward and keep Toure back. Rest Calabria, let’s try Kalulu again. Kalulu is more physical than Calabria. Use whoever you want as No.9 but I want to see what Pellegri has for us. I wanna see him play.
