Sky: Pioli likely to stick with Tomori-Kjaer pairing against Udinese after ‘very positive’ signs

By Oliver Fisher -

Head coach Stefano Pioli seems likely to stick with the centre-back pairing he used on Sunday night for the game against Udinese, Sky are reporting.

There were some eyebrows raised when Pioli made the decision to bench captain Alessio Romagnoli for the trip to the capital yesterday despite the bad recent form he has been in, and Fikayo Tomori did not disappoint as he and Simon Kjaer kept the hosts quiet for the most part.

According to what is being reported by Manuele Baiocchini for Sky Italia (via PM), Romagnoli could also be on the bench against Udinese as the performance of the pairing of Tomori and Kjaer was ‘very positive’. In this sense, therefore, they could be confirmed for the match against Udinese.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if they still play,” the journalist added. Romagnoli could therefore be left out for the second game in a row, but the fact that there are lots of games coming up in a short space of time means that he will get his chance again soon, hopefully feeling fresher and more determined than ever.
