Sky: Possible opportunity for Daniel Maldini against Rio Ave as Pioli ponders choices

By Oliver Fisher -

Head coach Stefano Pioli could choose to field Daniel Maldini as a striker for AC Milan’s Europa League Play-Off against Rio Ave, a report claims.

Pioli doesn’t have many selection dilemmas to ponder as a number of his first team squad are out, including the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ante Rebic.

However, he has a couple of decisions to make in the attacking department, such as who will start on the two respective wings and who will be ahead of Hakan Calhanoglu as the centre-forward.

According to Sky (via MilanNews), there is a real possibility that Daniel Maldini could start as the striker instead of Lorenzo Colombo, despite all the previous reports suggesting the latter would get the nod after netting against Bodo/Glimt.

Maldini – who will turn 19 in just over a week – did come on against Bodo/Glimt and play as the striker, scoring a lovely goal that was flagged offside.
