Sky: Predicted XIs for Milan vs. Torino – two new signings but no Chukwueze

AC Milan will kick-off their 2024-25 Serie A campaign on Saturday night as they take on Torino at San Siro, and Paulo Fonseca will name his first line-up for a competitive game.

According to what is being reported by Sky, Mike Maignan will be between the posts with Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez the right-back and left-back respectively. Fikayo Tomori will be partnered by new signing Strahinja Pavlovic in the middle.

Ismael Bennacer and Tijjani Reijnders are down as the expected double pivot, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek playing in the attacking midfielder role as he often did under Stefano Pioli last season.

Christian Pulisic has shaken off a knock and is tipped to be the right winger which thus relegated Samuel Chukwueze to the bench after an impressive preseason. Rafael Leao completes the attacking trident behind the centre-forward Alvaro Morata.

The likes of Yunus Musah, Noah Okafor, Luka Jovic and Chukwueze will thus be available off the bench to lend a hand during the game. Emerson Royal is not expected to be in the squad, as he must resolve some final bureaucratic issues.

Predicted AC Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Tomori, Pavlovic, Hernandez; Bennacer, Reijnders; Pulisic, Loftus-Cheek, Leao; Morata.

Predicted Torino XI (3-5-2): Milinkovic-Savic; Vojvoda, Coco, Masina; Bellanova, Ricci, Linetty, Ilic, Lazaro; Sanabria, Zapata.

    1. Why CHuku for sure? Because he had 2 good pre season friendlies against the other teams B-side? Pulisic is miles better and proved it last season in actual games that mattered.
This is not the actual line-up anyways, they change it every hour just to get more clicks.

      1. This is already completely wrong as Fonseca said in his press conference that Pavlovic and Reijnders are not in condition to start but maybe come off the bench.
I predict it will be Calabria -Tomori -Thiaw -Theo
        RLC- Bennacer
        Pulisic
        Chuku – Morata – Leao

      2. Is pulusic a winger? That was the mistake Pioli made. If This coach follows that pattern, believe me, he is doom to fail

        1. Wow. Tell me you know nothing about Milan or football without actually saying it. Pulisic was brilliant on the RW last season. Probably Milan’s most consistent players. Not saying he can’t play the 10 well but He’s been a winger pretty much his entire career. But I guess you know better

          1. You know nothing about football, the guy said the fact, Pulisic is not a winger, he’s better as a false 9, or behind the striker, he scored those goals last season from the center, he doesn’t have the footwork to take on defenders, he’s good with positioning and finishing, that’s not the work of a winger, Chukwueze is more electrifying and creates more chances as a winger.

        2. Exactly what I was saying throughout last season, Pulisic is better as a false 9 or behind the striker, Chukwueze is our perfect winger.

  1. I don’t believe this. Make no sense,it would mean that all preseason prepartion was nothing if we play this same sh*t as the last season.

  2. Morata is definitely starter, RLC was good in DM and will be starter too and Chuck will bé on the wing… Salad will play from bench and Jovic too

  3. This isn’t the correct lineup at all, since in the presser Fonseca said Reijnders and Pavlo won’t start. No indication how he plans on fielding the front three either yet.

But hey, the start of the season is finally here! Rejoice! FORZA MILAN ⚫️🔴

  4. Hey nobody is denying that pulisic was wonderful on the wings last season. Its just that he will be more effective down playing as a free midfielder who can get on to the wings at times (either side) or play defense cutting balls from the middle or going inside the penalty box for a few pops himself. We saw last season that he went a little out in the blue on the wings against top sides.

What we are trying to build is a team competitive enough in all competitions. We just dont need to bang 5 goals against minnows, we need a team playing against whom top sides might fear.Even in friendlies we saw pulisic playing well.

Plus our other option down the middle is RLC….who is just good on goal and in physicality. He does nothing in terms of creativity on most days.

The other solution i can think of is bringing reijnders to the attacking midfield position as he is box to box so he can lend hands in both phases of the game and have bennacer and fofana in defensive midfield postion acting like a dam and driving the team forward. This is what i believe should work

    Emer/Calab-tomori/Gabbia-thiaw/pavlovic-theo

    Bennacer/musah-Fofana/RLC

    Chuk/Pul-Reijnders/RLC-Leao/Sael
    Morata/okafor/Jovic
