Sky: Scaroni and Inter CEO Antonello meet Mayor Sala over stadium plans

By Oliver Fisher -

The new stadium issue is one that continues to resurface every now and again, and representatives of AC Milan and Inter met the Mayor today.

Sky last night broke the news that Gerry Cardinale is in Italy and that he had spoken with the Milan directors in what was described as a ‘marathon meeting’ about strategy for the days and weeks to come.

According to Peppe Di Stefano of Sky (via MilanNews), there was a meeting that took place at Palazzo Marino (the City Hall) with Mayor Beppe Sala, president Paolo Scaroni and the CEO of Inter Alessandro Antonello. It was initially stated that Cardinale was present, but he wasn’t.

Updates will follow regarding what was discussed but it is likely to have been about the project that Webuild put forward to renovate San Siro, while it must be remembered that the Rossoneri leadership seem to want to build their own new stadium in San Donato.

Cardinale has emphasised his desire to recreate an iconic venue, comparing the Rossoneri’s situation to the New York Yankees in the past, and whilst it may not be possible to recreate San Siro the idea is to create a better experience for fans and one that brings in more revenue for the club.
