Sky: The two conditions affecting Milan’s centre-back pursuit plus latest on a new midfielder

Some further information has arrived from Sky regarding AC Milan’s pursuit of a new centre-back and central midfielder.

Peppe Di Stefano spoke on Sky (via PianetaMilan) live from Milanello and provided the latest updates on the Milan market, starting with the role of central defender where he believes the Rossoneri ‘are covered’ for the time being.

At the moment the management are not looking for a player who would start but rather a back-up, and any possible purchase depends on two things. The first is whether Matteo Gabbia will push to leave Milan to play more regularly, and the second is the condition of Simon Kjaer which must be seen after his big lay-ff.

In terms of the midfield, Tiemoue Bakayoko is not a part of Stefano Pioli’s plans and could leave to make room for a new midfielder but Milan do not need a starter, rather a player who can grow and become one. Milan are not looking for another Kessie, Di Stefano added.
