Sky journalist believes end to 2024 will determine ‘what kind of season Milan will have’

Sky journalist Peppe Di Stefano believes that the stretch of games between now and the end of 2024 will determine AC Milan’s season.

It would be fair to describe Milan’s start to the season as rocky under Paulo Fonseca, given that eight point separate the Rossoneri from top spot in the league, with just five wins coming in the opening 11 games.

In Europe things have been a bit more positive, though it took defeats against Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen to eventually get going. A 3-1 win over Club Brugge at San Siro got the ball rolling before a very impressive victory at the Santiago Bernabeu against Real Madrid by the same margin.

Nonetheless, the impression this side are giving is one of inconsistency and a lack of defensive resilience. Di Stefano was a guest on the YouTube channel of his colleague Carlo Pellegatti and he gave some thoughts on the crucial few weeks that await for Milan.

“From now until New Year’s Eve we will understand what kind of season Milan will have, both in the league and in the Champions League, where they were able to recover by winning in Madrid,” he said (via MilanNews).

“There are some games that are a bit easy, but also some complicated matches like Juve, Atalanta and Roma. Milan must be Milan. In my opinion, the Milan squad is strong but with some gaps, and they need to be filled. Milan has needs in some roles, then the ways of the mercato are strange and infinite.”
