Sky journalist reveals background on what ‘led to the farewell’ of Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

Some background has emerged on how the decision was made that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave AC Milan once his contract expires.

Ibrahimovic’s second spell at Milan is drawing to a close and tomorrow will be his final game as a Rossoneri player, though he will not take part in the game due to injury.

At full-time in tomorrow night’s game, the fans will get a chance to express their thanks and say goodbye to Ibrahimovic as there will be a short ceremony.

After a lot of uncertainty surrounding the Swede’s future and a potential role at Milan as either a coach or a part of the management, Peppe Di Stefano has revealed the background on how it was decided that the best course of action is for him to depart.

“Two or three days ago Ibrahimovic met Pioli and Maldini at Milanello, Milan do not want mascots and Zlatan wants to continue to feel like a player. The sum of all this led to the farewell,” he told Sky (via TheMilanZone).
