SM: Bennacer to undergo arthroscopic surgery after sustaining knee injury

There is yet more bad news for AC Milan after last night’s derby defeat at Ismael Bennacer has sustained a knee injury that needs an arthroscopy.

After going 2-0 down within 11 minutes against their city rivals Inter in the Champions League, things went from bad to worse for Pioli’s side as Bennacer was then forced to come off with what looked like a knock that he couldn’t shake off, and Junior Messias came on in his place.

The worries were worsened when he was seen leaving the stadium on crutches, with a few sources reporting that he has sustained a problem with meniscus which is potentially season-ending.

As our colleagues at SempreMilan.it report, the tests he underwent this morning showed that Bennacer has suffered a post-traumatic cartilage lesion of the lateral femoral condyle of the right knee.

The player will undergo arthroscopic surgery and will therefore definitely miss the return leg of the derby.

  1. So we restes our players in the league and dropped point in alla of them so they would be fit in the champions league. Now Leao and Bennacer get injured at the beginning of the game. I can not wait for Pioli to finaly leave.

      1. Exactly and he rotated 6-10 players knowing it did not work. You rotate but not like Pioli has done you dummy. No team does that kind of rotation. It has cost us the too 4. Inter with a bigger squad did not even rotate that many players between games.

  2. That sucks. Cartriege damage is hard to treat / repair.

Good luck to Ismael. Hope he will be back to bossing the midfield as soon as possible.
