After Zlatan Ibrahimovic, another player from the Scudetto season could make a sensational return to AC Milan.
As anticipated by SempreMilan.com in our exclusive on January 15th, the Rossoneri are thinking about a reunion with centre-back Thiago Silva. Although at the moment there are still no concrete negotiations, Milan could soon work with the Brazilian’s agent.
The agent opens the door
The player’s representative has already essentially opened the door for a possible return to the San Siro for the 35-year-old.
He said: “Thiago has a great love for Milan but nothing has yet been decided for his future. Everything is possible,” – almost as if to say ‘if Milan are calling, we are there’.
The main obstacle
The biggest problem for a possible return of Thiago Silva to Milan would be his salary. The former Fluminese star currently receives €12million-a-year at PSG, something which he would have to at least have to cut his in half – perhaps with a longer contract – if a Rossoneri return were possible.
This would represent another exception to Elliott’s youth project, but at the same time it would fill that void in defense, where Milan have not been able to find an ideal partner to support captain Romagnoli.
The fact that the Brazilian does not currently have many alternatives could play in favour of Milan, if the defender wants to remain in the Europe.
In fact, PSG have not opened up to the possibility of a renewal, and offers have not arrived from Europe. The only rumours and possible other options, to be confirmed, come from the MLS and from Brazil, where the player would like to return.
However, it must also be considered that Thiago Silva would like to end his career with the 2022 World Cup, something which remaining in Europe gives him a better chance of doing.
Eight years later Zlatan and Thiago could find themselves together once again at Milan.
