Snaitech respond to La Maura stadium speculation with press release

By Oliver Fisher -

Snaitech have attempted to pump the brakes on the now abundant speculation regarding AC Milan building a new stadium on one of their courses.

The newspapers this morning are awash with stories stating that Milan seriously considering ditching the project with Inter that has been in the pipelines for four years amid frustrations over the delays in the bureaucratic process and concerns over Inter’s financial state.

Inter CEO Alessandro Antonello confirmed yesterday that Milan are eyeing La Maura as the site for a new stadium and they could build alone, while Mayor Beppe Sala also backed this up in an interview not long after.

Snaitech are the company that owns the land on which the La Maura racecourse stands, i.e. the area that Milan are evaluating for their new stadium, and they chose to address the speculation via a press release which was relayed by Calcio e Finanza.

“In the light of the recent statements made on various press reports in relation to the area on which the Snai La Maura racecourse is located, Snaitech confirms that it has ownership of the areas in question,” it began.

“In particular, the company has signed a preliminary sale agreement for the area which includes the racecourse Snai La Maura. However, the sale was not completed as it was subject to various conditions precedent such as the construction of new tracks and services for trotting, within the Snai San Siro racecourse.

“The same agreement, which was not signed with a sports club, explicitly provides for the obligation to guarantee Snaitech a permanent right aimed at protecting the training and horse racing activities.

“In fact, Snaitech continues to invest large sums in the redevelopment, expansion and modernisation of its sports facilities for the construction of a racecourse capable of accommodating all equestrian disciplines.

“Since 2016, when the Snaitech project began, the company has launched a process of enhancing the Snai San Siro racecourse following three strategic pillars: recovery and enhancement of the artistic-cultural heritage, San Siro is the only sports facility recognised as a national; rationalisation and certification of the environmental heritage, in particular the precious botanical park; relaunch of the sports component, central soul of a unique structure in Italy and at the forefront in Europe.

“In this ambitious project, Snaitech has collaborated with academic institutions to make use of the best skills, has involved industrial partners in the search for innovative solutions, placing the riches of the racecourse at the centre of a sustainable and synergistic plan with the growth of Milan and the country.

“Also in this sense, Snaitech hopes that, in the event of a possible sale, the future of the area, subject to landscape restrictions and a sports destination, will bring benefits to the neighbourhood and the city.”

  2. OK, so it won’t be la Maura. There are two other sites. Let’s go to Sesto, which has been begging for a stadium and get it over with ASAP.

  3. Ok welp. That escalated quickly 😂😂😂 they’re behaving like Milan Council.
