Spanish report claims Valencia have launched first offer for €38m Milan midfielder

A new suitor has seemingly emerged in the race for Lucas Paqueta as LaLiga side Valencia are readying a bid, a report claims.

Paqueta continues to be linked with an exit this summer as he has had a disappointing season with the Rossoneri. Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica and Fiorentina are the three sides who have been most consistently linked with a move.

However, Spanish portal Eldesmarque.com writes that Valencia have in fact been very interested in Paquetà for a long period of time. Back in summer 2017 the then 20-year-old Paquetà was observed with interest by Valencia as part of the operation that saw goalkeeper Diego Alves join Flamengo.

Paquetà grew since then and Milan signed him for a fee of €38m back in January 2019, but the interest of the Mestalla club has remained.

It is a figure that Valencia currently cannot afford to spend, although their management like the idea of betting on Paquetà as future replacement for captain Dani Parejo.

A first offer has reached Milan: loan with an option to buy, a formula that seems like the only choice as the Rossoneri will find it hard to find a buyer willing to spend the €30-32m needed to avoid a loss on the balance sheet.
