Barcelona president Joan Laporta spoke with agent Jorge Mendes about a deal for AC Milan star Rafael Leao but did not get very far, a report claims.
According to Sport, Barcelona are looking to reinforce their attack for next season given that only Robert Lewandowski was a reliable goalscorer and Ousmane Dembélé was the only other player guarantees of a start in the front three.
One player that Laporta ‘especially likes’ is Leao, who has been linked with various clubs while finalising his renewal, which should become official this week.
If he had not agreed to extend with Milan his contract would end in 2024. Laporta asked his agent Jorge Mendes about the situation of the Portuguese winger, hoping to pounce if a window presented itself.
In the end though an extension has been agreed, meaning the asking price given the financial situation of the Blaugrana is out of reach. In the future though a change in circumstances cannot be ruled out.
