CorSera: Spurs game drained energy from Milan rather than boosting conviction

By Oliver Fisher -

After a disappointing performance and an even more disappointing result against Salernitana, the media have set about picking apart AC Milan’s failings.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes how last night against Salernitana we didn’t see the best version of a Milan side who only a few days ago drew 0-0 in London against Tottenham and booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Those who thought that such a feat could give the Rossoneri squad a boost in the league ended up being proven wrong. In the end what happened was that – rather than giving conviction – the game against Spurs took away energy from Stefano Pioli’s team.

The result was seen at San Siro last night five days later as the Milan squad looked lacklustre in their attacking play and unorganised in the defensive phase, and that meant two dropped points in a top four race which is becoming difficult.
