Reports: Spurs dealt huge injury blow ahead of Champions League tie with Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

Tottenham have been dealt a big injury blow ahead of their Champions League last 16 tie against AC Milan as Hugo Lloris set to be out for between six to eight weeks.

Milan face off against Spurs in the first leg of the tie on Tuesday night with the Rossoneri battling injuries of their own, but now their opponents also have a pretty big absence to deal with.

As FootballLondon and the BBC are reporting among other sources, Lloris sustained ligament damage following a challenge that came late in the 1-0 win over Manchester City at the weekend and while surgery is not needed, he will miss up to two months and therefore both legs.

Fraser Forster will now be the goalkeeper in place of the Frenchman, and he has made four appearances for Spurs since his arrival, the most recent of which was a 2-2 draw in the Premier League draw against Brentford on Boxing Day.

  1. Lloris is garbage, he was always a bottler. Only reason he is still 1st GK in French NT is because Deschamps has the hots for him.

Him getting injured means a competent goalkeeper will take his place, which is in no way shape or form good news for us.

    1. Agreed. Lloris has become very error prone recently, he would have been a blessing for us if fit.

Spurs aren’t that good even if they did beat City recently, if we were on form I’d be confident. But we are playing so poorly that they will be heavy betting favourites.

          1. Lloris is a world mus bottler, ad has been on the decline for the last 5 years. Pick any of the backup GKs they have, Foster, Austin, Whiteman and you picked a better GK. Hell, put a rock on the goal line and you have a better GK.

We got demolished by a mid table PL club that just lost their coach and was plagued with injuries, what do you hope to achieve against one that is in top 5?

        1. We are playing against Spurs.. Not Pep’s Barca, Sporting got the better of Spurs, in the Group Stage! They were knocked, out of Europa League, by a side from Croatia.. They couldn’t even beat Rennes in the Conference League! Spurs aren’t a consistent team.. I want to ask? Are Sporting, Rennes, Dinamo Zagreb stronger than us?

        2. Chelsea are a much stronger opponent than Spurs.. Don’t forget, even we had many injuries against Chelsea! Your league standings, has nothing to do with, how you will perform in the Champions League.. There is a reason, why PSG haven’t won any Champions League, despite winning Ligue 1 for years! A Villarreal side, that finished in seventh, in La Liga, knocked Bayern Munich, out of Champions League, who were Bundesliga champions..

        3. Fraser Forster, has made four appearance for Spurs, with three of them coming in the Cup competition, one in the Premier League.. He has kept, two clean sheets, conceded four goals.. He started for Spurs, when they were knocked out of EFL Cup, by Nottingham Forests.. He has kept clean sheets, only against, second and third tier clubs, in FA Cup! He doesn’t have any Champions League experience.. Which is an advantage, for us..

They have a reliable deputy for Loris, that they want to bring Ben Forster, out of retirement, as per latest reports! That should, give you a, fair picture of, how reliable is Fraser Forster, or their other keepers..

  2. dude, on current form, everyone is better than Tata. We can put Harry Maguire on goal and he’ll do better than Tata LOL
