Report claims Spurs are targeting star man from UCL opponents Milan

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s Champions League last 16 opponents Spurs are reportedly targeting Mike Maignan ahead of the summer window.

According to Football.London, Spurs are in the market to try and find the goalkeeper they believe can be the long-term successor to Hugo Lloris, who has been at the club for 11 years but is now 36 and has just over a year remaining on his contract.

Not only that, but Lloris is currently out until at least late next month with knee ligament damage which will require him to be carefully managed between now and the end of the season.

The report adds that Tottenham’s shortlist includes Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili, Brentford’s David Raya, Brighton’s Robert Sanchez and Milan’s Mike Maignan.

In terms of domestic options, Dean Henderson – who is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Manchester United – and Jordan Pickford have been mentioned, but the latter is set to sign a new contract with Everton.

On Maignan, the source states that the 27-year-old is a player Spurs ‘have watched for a long time, since he came through the academy at PSG and moved to Lille’. Maignan has been mentioned by Lloris as the man to take over as France’s No.1 meaning he would likely endorse the operation.

  1. If Maignan was actually healthy and playing, performing as he did last year, we could have gotten big money for him. 60+mil.
I would absolutely have said sell, buy Vicario for 15+mil and use the rest of the money to strengthen the squad.
But since Maignan hasn’t played in 6 months, his value is definitely lower right now, and unless a big money offer comes in, I wouldn’t sell.
Unless, of course, his calf injury is something that can become a recurrent issue f Maignan was actually healthy and playing, performing as he did last year, we could have gotten big money for him. 60+mil.

    1. Do you really believe that these owners will use ALL of the capital from the sale of a player – whether that be Mike, Leao, Theo, etc.. – and reinvest it in the team??LOLOLOLOLO – keep dreaming buddy. Unfortunately they will pocket most of it and buy young cheap players. And the cycle continues.

      1. What cycle?
What money from which sales have they pocketed?
Maldini can’t sell a damn thing, and they still give him money every summer to waste, even though the club isn’t posting profits.
People like to push this agenda about the owners that is without any basis, besides few people spreading it on social media and the herd just accepting it.
Which one of our best players have Elliott or RedBird sold over the last 5 years and kept most of the money?
There is not a single example of that.
We get it. You wanted the other fund Investcorp to buy Milan, but they offered less and didn’t have all the money to buy the club and didn’t want to be financed by Elliott. They lost, RedBird won. RedBird is the owner for the foreseeable future.
        Get over it.

  2. I remembered when we had the chance to sign Lloris for around 15mil but Galliani cheaper out. He could have been our keeper for the last 15-20 yrs for only 15m. And he’s been pretty consistent
