Star Rossoneri duo Theo Hernandez and Ismael Bennancer have recently received awards for their fantastic performances in 2020.
One has been nominated in a star-studded team of the year by whoscored.com and the other has received a prestigious accolade from the esteemed France Football.
Our very own Theo Hernandez has managed to beat off competition from the likes of Alphonso Davies and Serie A defender Robin Gosens for the left-back spot in WhoScored’s European team of the year.
Theo – who gained 54% of votes – helped made up an imposing back four of Inter’s Achraf Hakimi and Premier League duo Kurt Zouma and Virgil van Dijk. The speedy left-back has impressed with a direct involvement in 7 goals this season alone and total of 11 in the 2020 calendar year.
Bennacer has been awarded with the “Maghreb Player of the Year” by France Football, ahead of his international team-mate and Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez. The 23-year-old joined Milan in the summer of 2019 after having an impressive AFCON tournament with Algeria.
The midfield star carried on his performances into his new season with the Rossoneri and developed further making up half of Milan’s brilliant double pivot, which saw the team lose only 3 competitive matches in 2020.
The AFCON player of the year beat the likes of Mahrez, Hakim Ziyech and Sevilla’s Yassine Bounou to the France Football award.
🤔 What exactly went wrong against Juventus? Is it right to blame lack of depth?
