Stat appears to show last November was a clear turning point in Milan’s fortunes

It appears as though AC Milan have been playing at a different pace since Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury against Napoli last November.

Milan’s rollercoaster start to 2021 had another disappointing instalment last night as the Rossoneri were beaten 1-0 by Napoli at San Siro, losing valuable ground in the race for a top four spot.

In fact though, the damage appeared to come during the reverse fixture against Napoli as Twitter user Semo33xx has highlighted what seems to be the point where everything began to turn sour.

From June 2020 until Ibrahimovic’s injury against Napoli in the 3-1 win back on November 22, Milan racked up 20 wins, 5 draws and 1 loss – a 76% win rate. During that stretch the team scored 61 goals (2.3 per game) and went on that famous at-least-two-goals-per-game run. There were also wins vs. Inter, Lazio, Napoli, Juventus and Roma to enjoy.

From that point (22/11) until today, the stat line does not read as healthy at all. There have been 13 wins, 8 draws and 6 losses since – a 48% win rate – with 42 goals scored (1.5 per game). Losses to Inter, Napoli, Juve and Atalanta, all at home, have arrived.
