Ex-coach believes ‘strong, charismatic and functional’ Kjaer will be like a new signing for Milan

The return of Simon Kjaer will be like a new signing for AC Milan according to former Lazio, Palermo and Fiorentina coach Delio Rossi, and raised doubts about the signing of Paulo Dybala.

A crucial season awaits for Milan as they are looking to defend their title as champions of Italy and also go further in the Champions League. If you are confident in your predictions for 2022-23 in Serie A or even a sport like cricket, you can view the UAE T20 League odds.

Rossi spoke to the microphones of MilanNews to talk about the Rossoneri’s summer transfer market business and the names that they have been linked with.

First of all, what kind of market do you expect from the Rossoneri between now and the close?

“That of a team that wants to strengthen, that worked a miracle to win the Scudetto but that, after all, deserved it more than anyone. Surely a market marked by constant growth in Italy but above all in Europe.”

As things stand are AC Milan – as reigning champion – the favourite for the Scudetto?

“Today like today, Inter and Juventus, even after the transfer market, have something more.”

Is the priority to adequately replace Kessiè?

“The important thing is what the club thinks. They have shown both that they have a clear strategy and that they are good at it. They were far-sighted, they lowered the wages and they bet strongly on a young and quality squad. Going into the technical it is clear that finding a replacement to Kessiè becomes the absolute priority. In the same way, something for the wing is needed to give Saelemaekers adequate rest.”

Will the return of Simon Kjaer, a player you had at Palermo, be considered in all respects as an acquisition?

“No doubt. Milan find a strong, charismatic and functional player. Functionality is a very important aspect. Paradoxically, despite being less popular overall, Kalulu turned out to be more important than Romagnoli. It becomes important to choose a player not only by looking at the absolute value but by relating him to the context.”

In this sense would you sign Paulo Dybala?

“He is a very strong player, it is useless to deny it. Despite this, Milan plays without a Dybala type and I say this by making a purely tactical speech. There is a striker, a second wide striker who made the difference like Leao and the other second striker who is in fact a midfielder.

“Diaz, Krunic and Kessiè took turns in that position. You can’t think of taking Dybala and making him play in this game system, if you take Dybala you have to change the set-up and build Milan for him. It would be an icing on the cake but its feasibility should be evaluated.”
