AC Milan’s first winter friendly took place yesterday afternoon at Milanello with Stefano Pioli’s side eventually prevailing 3-2 against Serie D side Lumezzane albeit through a late comeback.
La Gazzetta dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) recall how Yacine Adli, Gabriele Alesi and Victor Eletu were the players who got the goals for Milan but they ultimately trailed twice and showed that they are not near being back to match rhythm just yet having only been in training for a few days.
Pioli started with a 3-5-2 that features Tommaso Pobega and Rade Krunić as the wing-backs, Sandro Tonali in the middle of the three midfielders plus Divock Origi and Ante Rebić up front. Then, in the second half, he reverted to a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Pobega dropped back to full-back.
The paper picked out Pobega and Adli as being the positive notes as the former looked in the best condition while the latter scored a great solo goal, and it was Origi and Vranckx (who started in midfield) who did not impress.
In general, the Rossoneri appeared a little behind in condition, something they will have to work on in view of Tuesday 13 December when Arsenal will be their opponents in Dubai.
