CorSport: Talent, experience and risk aversion – Milan’s mercato guidelines explained

As the January transfer window looms, a report has revealed AC Milan’s strategy when it comes to recruiting new signings.

Several reports have already highlighted the various gaps that the management will look to address in the coming weeks and months. A new right winger has been mentioned as a potential reinforcement, but the most pressing matters are a midfielder and a left-back.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via MilanPosts), the diktat from those in charge at Milan when it comes to potential new signings has been reaffirmed and it will not change from the strategy deployed in previous windows.

The Rossoneri will avoid high-cost purchases to keep finances in check, first of all. There is no chance of seeing a €100m+ player arrive, as Christian Pulisic mentioned, but even signings of the Charles De Ketelaere level (€30m+) might be off the table for now.

The directors will target promising talents with one or two years of experience in top leagues, balancing youth potential with readiness for senior football.

Finally, the paper adds that Milan will reject any extremes. What that means is they will not sign very raw talents for the senior team (but will for Milan Futuro), nor will they take expensive gambles.

  1. Utter nonsense. They have no plan nor do they have any “model”. They just hang around looking for cheap players at the last minute, regardless of how they fit within the team.
And yet what little money we have we spend on utter sh1t like Emerson, a player we had no need for and who is useless.

Where is our striker we have needed for years?
Where is the back up for Theo?
Where is our midfield? we have 2 players?

Why out of 6 players who could play RB that were on the books in the summer did we end up with Emerson????
Calabria, Kalulu, Florenzi, Jimenez, Alexis, Simic

    1. Florenzi is injured, Kalulu was too defensive, Calabria was too defensive, Salad maker can’t defend consistently.

Emerson can defend and attack, just be paitent

      1. Seriously?

Emerson is one of if not the worst player I can remember Milan signing

I would take all of the above over him. Certainly Kalulu shud be 1st choice

Also NO Emerson cannot attack, at all, ever

      2. You have to be a paid meatrider… Emerson is literally the worst player in the squad. He can’t do either of those things. Stop sucking off this useless management for failure, you brain devoid fool

    2. Yeah I totally agree. These guys are just trying to find the biggest bargain possible. We’re lucky they didn’t lose Fofana, they almost did. And the irony is the club has record-setting revenues.

  2. You could just write “cheap with potential for big return”.

That’s our recruitment motto and that’s why Moncada is Gerry’s perfect match that won’t be fired.

  3. Plan?🤣💀 thers no plan, no intelligence to be seen. They will just pay little for cheap lazy bargains that they hope they can resell for slightly more. Nothing else

  4. We need to wait , every article is about how many players we will buy or how pure window it will be because we don’t buy anyone
