Talleres president says Retegui is ‘ready’ for Serie A amid Milan links

Mateo Retegui has ended up on the radar of AC Milan and it’s possible that the Rossoneri could make an attempt in the summer. The 23-year-old is ready for the move, as argued by Tallares president Andres Fassi.

Retegui spent 2021 on loan at Tallares and is currently loaned out to Tigre from Boca Juniors. He has found the back of the net six times in six games and the call-up to the Italian national team is a receipt of his success.

Speaking to Calciomercato.it, Tallares president Andres Fassi was asked about Retegui and whether he’s ready for Italy, as well as Serie A. He had nothing but good things to say about the centre-forward.

“Retegui is a very talented player, in recent years he has been one of the best young players in Argentine football. We had the opportunity to have him on a dry loan from Boca for one season. He has had an incredible growth, now he’s the top scorer in the league.

“He can play in the Italian national team without any problems, he has all the skills to do it. Argentina , in his position, has many important players and it’s difficult to find space when you’re up against Lautaro Martinez and Julian Alvarez.

“However, he’s ready for Italy and, in the future, also in Serie A. He’s powerful, he’s got technique and personality, and he’s a guy with his head in the right place,” he stated.

As was reported by Corriere Dello Sport this morning, Milan scouts have been following Retegui for a long time and there is an €18m release clause in his contract. A wildcard, but potentially a bargain for the Rossoneri.

  1. He looks good, a much more movable striker than what we got right now. Seems like a great finisher and two footed as well. But knowing Milan they will try to bargain and will prob lose him to some other team.
