Tavolieri: Milan confident new bid will clinch Taremi deal – “It’s happening”

By Oliver Fisher -

There is now growing confidence from all parties that a deal between AC Milan and Porto over Mehdi Taremi will be found, a journalist has claimed.

Milan have been linked with Taremi throughout the window but things have really become concrete in the last few days as the management have reignited their pursuit following difficulties trying to sign the striker a few weeks back.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, Milan are now preparing a new offer for Taremi that will ‘be submitted in the next few hours’ to Porto, who will then evaluate the latest proposal.

The value of the bid is expected to be around €20m as per the Belgian journalist, and now ‘all parties are positive’ about closing the deal between today and tomorrow, adding: “It’s happening.”

If Tavolieri’s latest update is true and the parties are moving closer together after initial differences over Taremi’s valuation, then summer signing number 10 really could happen and the attack would be complete.

  1. Its a bit sad if you think about it.. If they were smarter we could have bought a striker for a decade-ish.
    Wahi to Lens for 30M
    Beto to Everton for 25M
    Scamacca to Atalanta 25M.
im not even gonna mention Veliz and Retegui

20M for 31yo. He seems like a good player but he is no Ibra/Giroud.. A known and proven, at top stage, player

    1. Agreed. Had we planned properly we could/should have gone for Wahi. This late in the market our options are limited.

That being said however, I’d be happy with Taremi as I assume we will sign him to an extension and he will eventually become a perfect backup to a younger but established striker if/when we finally chose to invest big $$ in one – hopefully next summer

      1. He’s got a bad attitude unfortunately so even though he’s very talented he’s not perfect. Watch out for Szymon Wlodarczyk from Sturm Graz (where hojlund came from), big player

    2. You talk about proven top stage players then mention Beto and Scamacca… ehh…

Taremi is pretty well proven and has scored plenty in both his league in Europe.

      1. Exactly! Taremi is a veritable goal machine. If he can produce for 2-3 more seasons at this level we will have gotten a good deal.

      2. well, we cant all be perfect.. Beto and Scamacca have potential.
And no i was not talking about top stage players. I was talking about how with a bit more ‘do how’ Milan could’ve droped 20M+ maybe 10M for a talented young ST.

    3. Yup Scamacca was the one I was hoping for. But not really sure whether the player who was not interested, or it was us. I believe Taremi will do us good tho. We have more luck in signing older strikers than the younger ones recently.

And 20mil should consist bonus and such as well. This might be the nice surprise Moncada told about. And would be an ideal way to end our mercatto.

    4. All of these would be considered a “Gamble” meanwhile Taremi is a proven goalscorer, and he also has a lot of assists in is name. I still believe we will go for a young striker next season if Giroud chose to retire. Personally, I think they should go fir Gimenez or Brian Brobbey. Any thoughts guys?

      1. they are not gonna buy a striker next summer if Taremi comes.. wake up
And Giroud wont retire, he’ll stay +1 or go to france

    5. @ flyingturtle. It’s not sad it’s smart. None of strikers you mentioned are good enough compared to Taremi. Also , Milan will probably sign Jonathan David since his contract expires 2025. Smh

    6. I don’t think we need someone for the future as we already have someone rising in our youth sector, Camarda. he will join our ranks within 3 years so meanwhile, I think Taremi would be able to hold the line for us along with Okafor and Colombo.

    7. Nope , they already planning buy jonathan david next summer ( his contract left 1 years next summer) . They will get money from CDK + junior messias ( note : atalanta need to activate buy option cdk) . JD maybe cost 30-35m euro next summer. For now lets get this taremi as giroud competitor and finish transfer market

  2. Harry Kane is 31 and Bayern paid 100 mil, Wahi is a promising player, Beto is good and Scammqca not sure… I say you have to have patience and see if the transfer is happening and how good is he, 31 years isn’t that old considering that Giroud is still performing at 37 and Zlatan played untill 39, if he plays good for the next 4 years I say it’s a good deal.

  3. 31 isn’t old, Giroud is 37 and still performing good. Bayern paid 100 mil for a 31 years player… I say we wait and see how is he doing first if the transfer is happening. If he plays good for the next 3-4 years I say it’s a good deal. All of strikers above have a different profile maybe Beko would be a good sing but we need a killer inside the box we already have speed and this guy scored over 20 goals last season let’s give him a chance

  4. We can’t know if Wahi would perform same as good in Seria A and with Milan game style. Taremi is an experienced striker who is ready to start. The same thing happened with Giroud

  5. Taremi is a poor man Harry Kane. If he is Integrated properly into the line up he will be a great complement to the wingers, because besides scoring he can also create goals with his passing.
Milan doesn’t need a fast striker because they already have speed around him. Milan needs a striker who can utilize that speed.
And people still calling for that weirdo Wahi? One good season in Uber Eats league and all of a sudden Milan should spend 35 mil on him, like he is a some kind of guarantee for a decade.

  6. The just added a bunch of young players in Pulisic, Chukwueze, Musah, Pellegrino, Okafor, Reijnders, Lima Romero, and so forth. They added a TON of young talent. Yes it would be great to add a talented young stud to play striker, but we cannot always accomplish all of our goals in one window. They still need to reinforce the back line as well. It’s okay though, if what we’re seeing from Cardinale is what we can expect moving forward (not this many signings, but the profiles) then it’s only a matter of time before we grab a young, talented striker.

    1. Yeah. We’d preferably want Taremi and another young striker later on, once Giroud retires. That’s the way I see it. Spend some now on a sure thing and pick up a young striker next winter or summer.

      1. Yes. Let’s win the scudetto. I think when you look at the rest of the team, it’s fine to invest in a more mature but established striker like Taremi. Not everyone has to be 19-24. Sometimes getting the known quantity is the way to go. Next summer we can find a true young starlet to play striker.

  7. To sum it up. We need a proven scorer. Not a hopeful prospect. If we sign Taremi now, we can then sign a prospect once Giroud retires, leaves or plays less. We can get the prospect next winter or summer.

  8. Feels like a lot of money to be paying when we have just bought Okafor and Giroud is the first choice still for this season.

With Colombo and Origi still on the books too, I fear this one isn’t a wise investment. I think he’s a quality player, but what was the point of signing Okafor?

    1. Okafor is more comfortable as LW, vice-Leão. Taremi has scored 31 times in 2022/23 (he is a proven finisher) with 14 assists in 51 games (almost one goal contribution per game), and UCL experience. If we sign him, it will be a great signing.

  9. Yes Giroud is a first choice centre forward this season .it’s not difficult to see why ,,.he is technically brilliant he knows exactly where to be at the right time …
This man ,yes I have told you all so many times is the best man to have in and around the 18 yard area.He has great experience and physical strength and he has the players around him that he needs pulisic ,rafeol leao ,and the brilliant Loftus cheek who will also create chances ..some of you just don’t get it do you …Why does he still get called up for his country.?
Do you know why ,it’s when he plays he creates opportunities for others…Stefano pioli is a wise manger ,he knows what the experience of Olivier brings to the team ..
Another thing just listen ,it doesn’t matter who we buy as another striker ,,,he will not be able to better Giroud …all you doubters make me annoyed..
Do you know how many goals Olivier Giroud will score this season …I will tell you around 20 goals in all competitions…perhaps even more ..do you believe this ..
I have been involved with football for a long time ,I have watched olivier Giroud so many times over the years …He has still got what it takes ..He is a winner .
So are we as a team .can we win the scuddeto this season yes for sure ..the ream we have has got so many goals in it .
Rafeol leao will score quite a few ,yes possibly 20 goals ,..what about pulisic around 15 – 20 goals
The player I think could be our main man this season is Loftus cheek ,,,yes he had injury problems, but I believe now he is fit and well ,..so that’s good for us.
So all you fans starti giving Olivier Giroud the credit he deserves,,not later ,but now ..will you do that !

  10. Funny when people talk as if 31yo is a dinosaur when milan literally rely on ibra not too long ago and now giroud.

Milan need striker who is ready right away, with a lot of experience and not just some unproven young player with prospect.

  11. The thing is if Colombo ends up exploding this season on loan there might not be a need to sign anybody, he’ll just be reintegrated into the squad, Taremi still has plenty to give. So it’s not a bad move at all. Getting another striker to replace Oli should he retire all hinges on Colombo basically.
