AC Milan are trying to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta before the window closes, and a journalist has claimed the management are optimistic.
Milan have already signed a striker in the current window, with Niclas Füllkrug having joined from West Ham United on loan with option to buy. However, amid reports Christopher Nkunku is not 100% sure of a stay, there has been talk that another forward could yet arrive.

Milan ready Mateta hijack
Now, Sacha Tavolieri has reported the following on X: “Milan now ready to hijack Nottingham Forest for Jean Philippe Mateta! Understand race is not over for Rossoneri who are confident in order to complete Mateta move in the next days.”
Earlier today, The Athletic‘s David Ornstein reported that that Crystal Palace are getting closer to signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers, in a deal worth £45million (around €50m) plus £5m in add-ons. That could open the door for Mateta to go.
He also confirmed that the Rossoneri are in for Mateta, who has less 18 months left on his current deal and doesn’t look inclined towards renewing. Ornstein also stated that Nottingham Forest have offered €40m for Mateta, which feels like a figure that Milan would struggle to match in January.

They got Fulkrug and Gimenez will be back too.
It would make sense if it was a deal that they can’t pass on but 40 mil for a 29 year old who has a year and a half left on his contract and not a prolific scorer is not a can’t pass on deal.

I think they’re thinking and planing for next season. Fulkrug isnt 100% ours and gimenez is currently the only striker after him. Allegri might be thinking of changing the formation or the most obvious that we would be in at least 4 competitions next season. If we wait for the summer mateta will most likely be sold already or a very high fee would be demanded.

It’s the prem they usually ask for very high fees even if they are on 12 months. Their prices for buying and selling;doesnt matter which league, Are inflated compared to the other leagues. If they dont get himself we still would need another striker for next season even if we buyout fulkrug from westham.

Im not sure management will make it happen, his wage is pretty high. Unless he brings down his demands like rabiot did then it will most likely happen.
Vlahovic will not arrive at Milan and he will not lower his salary either. He will go to the EPL. I also don’t think vlahovic is the right choice because he can’t play with his back to goal and his first touch and hold up play is as bad as Gimenez.
A midfielder will only arrive if they sell Fofana. With four days left to the close of the window, all of that is highly unlikely. CB maybe if they can swing a deal, but I think that they’re in love with Gila, and the others that we’ve been linked with are only available in permanent moves. Signing one of them would preclude Gila (unless we sell one of the ones we have now in June). The likeliest scenario is that our transfer window is in fact already closed.

I do think it’ll help with the midfield but will help the attack exponentially, but I think the main problem is with the tactics and the right cm not helping correctly in the midfield. Alot of the times when rabiot and modric are in position the rcm is not. Rlc gives up the runs or isnt aware of his surroundings when defending and fofana commits to much with when done right comes out right but when not hes out of position. Ricci isnt a mezzala and plays very conservative for that role. Unless they play with 2 dms in defence and have one of the cams drop I to midfield to cover that hole.
it can if we focus on creating box midfield, the ones upfront are technical enough to be more central.
For Leao sitauation, we might actually make the striker be 4th piece of the box and by stretching the opposition on the right, Leao gets left space for free.
Mateta is a very patchy striker. Hot streaks, cold streaks. Just hold off until the summer and scout someone more consistent.

The (only?) players we should be selling are Nkunku & RLC. And maybe Estupinan but no one’s going to buy him.
Selling leao wouldn’t be very smart, he seems very important to the dressing room(from the outside looking in) and can cause the dressing room to lose confidence. Also despite being injured; not being able to heal completely, since the beginning of the season he has scored 7 goals and 2 assists in the league. He hasnt been able to do his runs and trickery with confidence without most likely aggravating it even more.

Leao has a problem which is chronic and will come and go and come back again. He is damaged goods at this point.
We could say that about pulisic, salamaekers, fulkrug, and raboit if we do the same logic. Just because a player is playing injured does not mean they should be sold. He hasnt been able to heal completely because we are very shallow in depth in the forward positions. Nkunku, pulisic, and fulkrug are also playing injured but are in a better state than leao. We also won’t see gimenez until spring I believe, so who shall we put in as the second striker? Rlc isnt a striker, with leao out we have 3 players for 2 positions with only 1 being able to be substituted during a match which will cause them to injure themselves even more.

Rabiot isn’t playing injured, he was injured.
Pulisic had an ankle injury, than he was sick, now has some kind of muscle injury.
Saelemaekers had 2 different injuries.
Leao has a chronic problem with the same injury, his groin, that will go and come back again and something that he will have go deal with for the rest of his career.
You’re thinking of pubalgia which is a hernia in the groin region. What he has is a strain in his groin, two very different injuries. Pubalgia can never helped with surgery but is chronic, groin strain just needs rest to get better. If I remember correctly pulisic has had that injury for a bit but again with very little depth up front he has to play.

AC Milan is apparently currently working on renewals of both Leao and Pulisic contracts so I doubt that sales of the two is in the works at present.
If we cannot afford a superstar then keep Nkunku. Chances are we will end up with a less talented striker than nkunku.
Mateta isn’t going to Nottingham Forest, bcos he wants to go to a bigger club, and play in the Champions League. Milan won’t offer such crazy money for someone who isn’t in a rush, and, who isn’t sought by any of the big clubs in England. With days to the end of the winter, different rumours just keep popping up.
