CorSport: Theo Hernandez back on the rails – now only one thing is missing

By Oliver Fisher -

Stefano Pioli has had one of his most important performers back in recent games as Theo Hernandez looks to have put his post World Cup struggles behind him.

Corriere dello Sport (via MilanNews) recall how players like Leao, Giroud and Theo Hernandez struggled a lot to get back in physical condition after the tournament in Qatar and that certainly hurt the team’s performances in January.

The paper recall Theo’s words after the 1-0 win against Torino earlier in the month: “I was down in the dumps after the World Cup, but now I’m back.” The Frenchman has probably also benefited from the change in formation which allows him to play wing-back, a role even more suited to his characteristics.

Against Torino he provided a beautiful assist for Giroud’s headed winner, and against Tottenham a good percentage of Brahim Diaz’s opening goal is thanks to him, while versus Monza he played a very solid game.

Theo Hernandez seems to have completely recovered, or rather he will be once he gets his first goal of the year. The former Real Madrid man wasted two big chances in the Torino and Monza games that could have sealed the result, and he wants to end a drought that last since November 5 against Spezia.
