There is more positive news on the renewal front for AC Milan because Theo Hernandez is reportedly close to extending his deal.
Theo played a starring role in the Supercoppa Italiana triumph, scoring a free-kick to halve the deficit in the final then setting up Christian Pulisic for the equaliser. The Frenchman was back to smiling after a difficult start to the season under Paulo Fonseca.
Calciomercato.com report that Theo’s newfound serenity on the pitch – while waiting for further proof of that – goes hand in hand with the new and positive contacts between his agent and Milan regarding the renewal of his contract expiring in 2026.
The dialogue between the parties is progressing ‘in total harmony’, and the economic agreement is now closer. We are not yet at the stage of drafting the documents to sign like for Mike Maignan and Tijjani Reijnders but the directors believe they are on the right track to reach the finish line.
Milan are even ready to make a significant effort from an economic point of view, reaching the figure of €6/6.5m net per season which as per the source would make him among the highest paid players in the squad.
There is already an agreement on the duration of the new agreement: it would go to 2029. The Rossoneri are optimistic about closing the deal positively as soon as possible.
Those are the salaries top players deserve, actually, it’s the minimum of top players’ salaries.
If we want to attract players we need to increase the salary offers, and also for keeping players.
Anyway, the salary should not be just for the quality of the player but also for the effort and willingness he shows. I think Theo deserves this 6.5m
even if he had a bad 2 months he showed he can be crucial in some games.
At 6-6.5mil those are probably the last renewals they get. Next step for RedBird would be to sell them and make some money.
Pivotal players at their best. Would be nice to secure players like that and build around them to make Milan challenge for more titles. Not sure this is RedBird’s plan though.
Milan have to keep best players and challenge for more titles.
Market in Italy won’t allow clubs to spend like Barca or EPL clubs. It is what it is.
To make money we’d have to sell him this summer anyway or at the latest next summer. If we wait until 2027 (two years from the end of the deal) he’d be 29 and what are the chances people will pay good money at that point? Theo’s biggest asset is his speed going forward, of all the “skills” this will be the first one to deteriorate as he ages.
You’ve literally been running this same story for a year. That ‘one step’ being him agreeing to an offered salary. Or the salary he wants being offered. Until I see a pic of him with a pen I don’t believe he’s got any intention of staying.
He’ll stay. Don’t need to be negative.
He is waiting another child..I think he stay here because of family and if he renew until 2029 , we are okey, it’s another 5 years . I belive this is true
Crazy the effect a coach has, 2 games and all of a sudden, players want to renew, Players are willing to take pay cuts to join, Everyone is trying to impress, even the players we are linked too are better, All of a sudden, there are advanced personal talks with Ricci also, if it is so advanced, why didn’t we hear this under Fonseca? A coach’s power is great!
