Theo Hernandez facing multi-game ban after red card at full-time in Fiorentina loss

Theo Hernandez is facing a spell on the sidelines after he was shown a red card after the full-time whistle during tonight’s defeat against Fiorentina.

It was not Theo Hernandez’s best night, to put it mildly. He gave away a penalty for a foul on Dodo (admittedly it looked soft) which was then thankfully saved by Mike Maignan, then he missed a penalty himself after Tijjani Reijnders was fouled.

He did register an assist for Christian Pulisic’s goal but then at full-time in the 2-1 defeat he got a totally unnecessary red card after the final whistle. The full-back protested quite aggressively towards the referee Luca Pairetto, who sent off the captain.

It is questionable behaviour for someone who wears the armband without doubt, also because he will miss (at least) the next two games: the suspension for insulting or offensive expressions towards the referee is usually two matches.

Given that there is no other left-back in the squad, while Alessandro Florenzi and Davide Calabria (who can fill in) are currently out injured, it is an even more bizarre and disappointing rush of blood to the head from the Frenchman. We now await further news on the length of the ban that he will have to serve, after the international break.

  1. Who is to play the LB

The management have been skipping the puzzle that needed to fix the LB for the past 4 season. No backup for Theo

They kept buying RB season in season out but always end up with trash like Terraciano Emerson. Which take us back to zero to fix the RB and LB back up for Theo

  2. For all his brilliance.
He consistently looses his head and does costly things like this.

Looks like we might finally get to see Terracciano do something.
Fonseca can spend the international break getting him ready.

  3. Milan look good enough to win the Scudetto, finally, but behavior like this makes it more difficult. They most likely will still win it, though. I do hope they sell Theo and Leao after this season.

        1. It’s only people like you that are satisfied with this t_rd sandwich of a team.

Why dont you f_ck off to under whatever rock you live

    1. Lol Milan look good enough to win Scudetto but gotta sell the stars after lmfao
The things you get to read in here lol

    2. Yeah it’s the actual Scudetto winner who is going to cost us the mythical Scudetto not the bang average players we’ve signed since.

  4. I said it after the Lazio circus, that Theo should never be a captain ever again.
Don’t care how long he has been at Milan, he isn’t a captain material and never will be.

  5. I don’t know how Milan decide capitancy. In the past, longest player served the club will be the captain.
With all due respect to Theo, we can’t have TikToker as a captain. He is talented yes, but for captain No

    1. In the past we had players who had played for the club for more than 5 mins…

Calabria is our longest serving player and everyone openly mocks him and want him sold.

  6. This isn’t normal behavior for Theo. His moments of madness have been far and few in between, objectively.

In general he isn’t Captain material though.

Its look mentally fried. Glad the break is here.

    1. Not sure if it isn’t normal behavior for Theo. He is very hotheaded and has collected numerous yellows and reds for dissent, in the remote and near pat.

I think a hotheaded player can’t be the captain.

    1. Unfortunately, that’s seems is the reason. Milan have to let him go. Get as much as possible and move on. Yes Milan depends on his attacking outcome, but that’s if definitely can be solved with redirect money from his sale to get good players for attacking department. Buy a real right wing and a striker. Sell Chuku as well. Milan can’t wait for him to bloom.

    1. Must admit i am milan fan but calling ref terrible is unfair – think he did a good job on the whole. Blaming ref for milan’s shambolic performance makes no sense and is unfair. Our main culprits are a weak good-for-nothing coach; a lazy leao; and a bloated object called ibra.

      1. He was shocking.

Not in a biased toward Fio way, but he blew for absolutely everything and made it an awful game to watch. This has been a trend this season more than in recent years in my opinion. That doesn’t take away from how bad we were – Fio had to deal with it too and did so better than us.

        But the ref was abysmal.

  7. Good. Sit him down for even more. He’s going to use the captain’s armband to selfishly take penalties away from the designated pk taker Pulisic. Too much selfishness on this team

  8. What a shambles!!!!! Need to get rid IMMEDIATELY of fonseca, ibra, moncada and furlani. Their sum value is ZERO.
Also need to sell Leao as soon as possible. When he is “around” milan is playing with 10 men.
And making us believe that morata and abraham are some kind of gods …. how sad.

  9. Maybe it’s time for the coach to try a 343 formation with Mike; Pavlovic, Tomori, Gabbia; Tijjani, Fofana, Royal, Musah; Leao, Pulisic, Morata

  10. Maybe it’s time to get rid of Tomori???!!! Had a couple of good seasons but he is now on a steady decline. For sure he is not the same Tomori and Southgate was right to leave him out from england selection. Does anybody agree?

    1. Yup – I’ve been saying it for sometime – He is not an intelligent footballer – petulant, prone to mistakes and not progressive – bench only
