Thiaw says he ‘feels at home’ at Milan now following superb Tottenham display

By Euan Burns -

AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw has admitted that he feels at home at the club now following his superb performance against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Speaking to Sky Sport after the match against the Premier League side at San Siro (via Milan News) the German defender suggested that he has struggled to settle in a new country but now he is ready to make an impact.

“It took some time to feel comfortable, but now I feel good, I feel at home. I like my teammates and the coach, I feel at ease now,” Thiaw said.

“Winning a Champions League match with these fans and atmosphere was incredible, I’ve never experienced anything like it.”

Thiaw started the game in the back three along with Pierre Kalulu and Simon Kjaer and he was one of the Rossoneri’s best performers on the night.

He had to face an elite striker in the shape of Harry Kane and he said of the duel: “Kane is a great player, I don’t think I have to say that. In the match you only think about the match, you don’t think about how strong he is.”

He also spoke about Milan’s sporting director Paolo Maldini, showing his immense admiration for the former Milan captain.

“I don’t know what to say about Maldini, I think he is one of the greatest if not the greatest defender ever. I’m happy to be able to talk to him every day,” Thiaw explained.

Pioli may find it hard to leave Thiaw out of the starting lineup for Milan’s upcoming fixtures.

  1. Until something changes, Malick should be one of the first names on the team sheet every game. He has physical attributes that few players in Europe have, and he’s shown he’s mentally ready to compete at the elite level. I don’t want to hear any more nonsense about him being one for the future or not ready.
