PM: Three reasons for Milan to strongly consider an attempt to sign Berardi

By Oliver Fisher -

One of AC Milan’s summer transfer market target could be Domenico Berardi of Sassuolo if the management choose to try and strengthen the wing.

Calciomercato.it reported earlier this week that Berardi is a target for the Rossoneri and has a valuation of around €30m, given that he is now on 10 goals and 10 assists in the league. Sassuolo would be interested in signing Junior Messias to replace Berardi, while they also asked for information about Tommaso Pobega’s situation, so Milan could play those cards in their favour.

PianetaMilan also claims that Berardi could well be back in fashion for Milan given that he seems to be ready for the jump to a big club, and they have highlighted three reasons why he would be worth an investment by Maldini and Massara.

Firstly, Berardi is the only player in Europe’s top five leagues to have both scored 10 goals and to amass 10 assists this season, so it is clear that such a decisive player would provide a significant leap in quality and would balance the attack with Rafael Leao on the left.

Then there is his experience, as the Italy international is a 27-year-old player who boasts 96 goals, 68 assists in 261 appearances in Serie A and he seems to be in his prime, ready to contribute.

Despite that, Berardi hasn’t won anything with Sassuolo and he has the concentration, determination and confidence to prove that he is ready to win a trophy at club level. He also won the European Championships with Italy over the summer, adding an international string to his bow.

  1. If I remember correctly, then he is also very versatile. Main position is RW, but he has been played as a striker, LW and AMC in the past. That could give us good rotation ability when injuries arrive

  2. I have been pushing for this signing on my channel for a long time. He is prime to join us, just depends if management sees it or not. A true goal and creative threat, national team experience, captain and offensive leader, penalty taker and free kick taker, and still many good years to give. Seems like a no brainer to me. Good article!

  3. I would preffer Antony from Ajax for the RW or Nicolas Gonzalez from Fiorentina if we can spend 30mil. They are both young and still improving while Berardi is the finnished product. Which isn’t really worth 30mil. Kind of slow for a winger. Plus Sassuolo bases their game plan around him, not sure if he can be as good if he isn’t the central figure on the field where every team mate constantly passes to him. If Sasuolo sells him for some 20mil then it is ok i guess. Anthony is a different level however and still only 21years old.

    1. Your comment doesn’t make sense. The “finished product” that has produced “96 goals, 68 assists in 261 appearances” (better than some strikers) isn’t worth 30 mil? Save for RW and striker, our entire linuep is made up up players in their mid 20s who are just about to hit peak. Why would we want to bring in some rando kid that will take 2-3 seasons to peak? We need everyone peaking at the same time, that’s how we will win trophies. If it’s not this season, our time surely must come in the next couple or not at all since the other clubs aren’t standing still. More than Botman or Sanches we need Berardi and a proven goalscorer that isn’t over 30 to come in so we can win the scudetto and go deep in the CL now.

      1. Still flabbergasted at that comment. 96 goals, 68 assists in 261 appearances is surely in the top 10 for that position in Europe, if not top 5. 30 mil is a bargain.

        1. Stats dont tell the full story so maybe you shouldn’t just take things at face value. Most of the time there is more to it. He takes penalties and free kicks. Usually he scores around 6-7 goals per season from open play. Which isn’t that special really. In Sasuolo he has the freedom to shoot as much as he likes, so that helps the stats as well. As someone has mentioned here he was really bad for Italy at the Euro. So not sure if it would be wise to splash 30mil for him. As for the other wingers they are already on his level. Anthony probobly even above him already at 21. My point with the “peak” is that those wingers will get even better cause they are young. Berrardi rating as a RW 7.25, Gonzalez 7.9, Anthony 8.15 as RW. As i said there is more to it..

  4. Can’t believe this guy has 10 goals and 10 assists… Yes he “won” the Euros with Italy but he was shite, missing about 5 chances a game.

  5. Sure he has 10 goals and 10 assist.
But he wouldnt have that in Milan since Milans attack wont be to pass only him like it is in saussulo.

But would definitiv be an upgrade on out right wing.

  6. It can be a million reason to buy a certain player, but it just need one reason to make it that transfer will not come true: money. This elliots group didnt want to make any real invest in transfer. Inter has lost lukaku as their talisman and conte as their architect this season so this is our chance to grab the scudetto. But what elliots do? They doing nothing to try to achieve it. They act like they dont realize that the scudetto will make milan value rise up, and that is the strange thing if we consider that they goal is to make milan rise again.

  7. 30m euro , is that really Sassuolo asking? Last summer they asking 40-45m euro to whoever club that want to buy berrardi, yes he is worth if 20-30m euro but it is better to check it out on summer what are the real price Sassuolo asking. Before that we must get rid one of saele or junior first to get room for new RW ( Pioli already asking management to activate junior buy option)
