MN: Three-tier display, legends honoured – the plans for 125th anniversary game vs. Genoa

More details are continuing to emerge regarding AC Milan’s plans for their 125th anniversary celebration game against Genoa.

There are a number of different things planned to celebrate the fact that Milan will rack up a century-and-a-quarter of existence in December, which we have detailed in a previous article.

As MilanNews write, the next home league game will be special for Milan as it will be the one that celebrates the club’s 125th anniversary. It comes against Genoa, who with Mario Balotelli and the new coach Patrick Vieira also have some red and black connections.

One of the main spectacles will be the three-tier display that the fans will take part in before kick-off. Co-ordinated by the club, supporters will hold things up that form an image that covers the entire stadium, but details of the design are unknown.

Several special guests are expected such as Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Frank Rijkaard. The three Dutchman will return together to San Siro for the first time in several years, along with the likes of Clarence Seedorf, Pippo Inzaghi and Alexandre Pato.

Some players from the previous glory days will be present as well with Mauro Tassotti, Filippo Galli, Roberto Donadoni, Billy Costacurta, Serginho, Gianluca Zambrotta and others confirmed to be in attendance.

At the end of the warm-up, the club legends will take to the field along with some of the most iconic trophies won during the history of Milan. It will be a ceremony with light shows, performers and pyrotechnic effects.

At around 19:30 CET (kick-off is at 20:45) there will be an award ceremony on the pitch in which three forwards out of Van Basten, Andriy Shevchenko, Alexandre Pato, Filippo Inzaghi, George Weah and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be inducted into the new Hall of Fame.

The team will take to the pitch wearing a commemorative shirt, which has been available for pre-order on the Milan online store since yesterday and which has recorded record numbers in the first 24 hours.

  1. No Maldini. It’s a shame. I wonder which side could not put down their differences for this occasion. They should have managed it, for the club and the fans.

    1. It definitely leaves a sour taste in the mouth that our most winning player and biggest legend in the clubs history wont be present at such an event. I’ll go as far to call it absurd.

    1. Fair assumption but so is all the rest of the players that will be inducted at least Berlusconi era wise but this ownership made a new one as Baresi was also just recently inducted.

        1. Yes did read that but the players mentioned was already inducted in the hall of fame under berlusconis ownership hence why i said what i said.
I can guarantee you that at least inzaghi, seedorf, shevchenko and van basten was already inducted years ago.
