TMW: Caldara undergoes surgery after ligament injury – why Milan are monitoring the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

Mattia Caldara has undergone surgery on a knee ligament injury and his recovery process will now begin, while AC Milan will have an eye on the situation.

According to a report from TMW, the Atalanta defender will have to observe a period of rest and then begin with rehabilitation. His recovery time is expected to be around three months so not as serious as an ACL tear, and his return to the field is therefore expected around January.

Milan are very attentive to the situation, as Caldara left the club during the January transfer window earlier this year on loan with an option to buy, and while it is widely expected that La Dea will use that option, there are things that could derail the plans such as serious injuries.

Atalanta would not be required to make a decision until next summer, however, so there is plenty of time for the 26-year-old to recover and find his stride again.
