TMW: Calhanoglu’s perplexing statements about Milan future explained

By Oliver Fisher -

Some interesting statements were uttered by Hakan Calhanoglu on the eve of Turkey’s opening game of the European Championships.

As TMW writes, Calhanoglu said the following when asked about his future at Milan: “My future is still Milan, I already spoke three days ago with Paolo Maldini, he called me. We talked about Milan, I said I want to focus on the European Championship but Milan has the first responsibility and with great respect to Paolo and Massara, I always talk to them.”

Despite the admirable effort to try and respond coherently in Italian, the statement has caused some perplexed responses because contained within it are contradictions in terms, from the ‘future still Milan’ to contact with Maldini but postponing the decision to the post-European Championships, and then ‘responsibilities.

The report writes that when explained, Calhanoglu’s statements become clearer. He initially sidetracked the issue, reiterating that his future at Milan is formally only a contract until the summer. However, he revealed the direct contact with Maldini three days ago and stated that he is only focusing on the European Championships, and that the future will not be a distraction for him.

Calhanoglu meant that after the Euros his first thought will be to discuss with Milan’s Maldini, as he meant ‘the priority is the Rossoneri’.

  1. Pretty obvious that Calhanoglu bets on a good EURO display to get better offers.
Any player involved in the EURO probably would be stupid to sign right now.

  2. If Milan alow H10 leave this summer is serious mistake we can be losing players like every time we expected to do something good he is a player we actually want in this moment bringing some useless players that have no qualities is always a back word
