TMW: Chelsea pushing to beat Milan and Inter to €35m Ligue 1 forward

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are interested in signing Montpellier talent Elye Wahi but it appears Chelsea are going to win the race, according to a report.

According to TMW, Chelsea are pushing to complete a deal for Wahi in the next few days, presenting an offer to the French club of around €35m to sign the 20-year-old after a season in which he amassed 19 goals and 5 assists in 33 Ligue 1 games.

The intention is to beat the competition from Inter, Milan and other clubs and then send the player on loan to Strasbourg, a club owned by the American consortium BlueCo who also own Chelsea.

Wahi’s numbers from last season have earned him the attention of the big European clubs and it seems as though Montpellier will not stand in his way if the right offer comes in.

Chelsea’s spending spree is not over and they are able to offer more than what the Milanese clubs can at present.

    1. Chelsea have literally just made 36m+ from Milan in the last month.

Not to mention selling Mount at 100% capital gain, Kovacic to Man City and sending several players to Saudi Arabia.

The question I want to know is just how many forwards they think they need? I know they want rid of Lukaku but they just bough Jackson and N’Kunku, they still have Broja and seem to be linked with a tonne of others too. Such a waste to have so many good players sat on their bench.

      1. Chelsea is a club that buys players to stop other clubs getting them. They don’t need them and they will rot on the bench -or go out on loan. Anyone interested in furthering their career should avoid them like the plague.

  1. Milan is obvious buying only for 20 million. That is 4 or 5 mil ammortisation per year for 1 arrival. Especially after Charles de keteleare.

Milan could spent 30 mil for player who is valued 60 mil or something.

  2. This is the striker we should have went after. 35M is still reasonable for a kid with this much talent, size, speed, agility, and eye for goal. Rather spend 35M on him than 20M on a 31 year old Taremi or someone like a Mortata. I actually think Taremi will do well in Serie A, but Wahi is a unique talent that is well worth the gamble. Shame

  3. Rebird dont want to buy player more than 30m euro / player. Unless montpellier reduce asking price or allow payment in 2 or 3 installment , there is no way we can see wahi in ACM

    1. Game over. This should have been our first signing. Can’t wait for Pioli to leave. He’s obsessed with injury prone players and hates Italians. He can GFH.
