TMW: From Firmino to Scamacca – Milan’s strategy and targets for the striker role

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan’s priority is to sign a new centre-forward this summer and there are a number of names being considered, it is claimed.

In the editorial for Tuttomercatoweb.com, Niccolò Ceccarini spoke about the upcoming window and what might change in the attacking department, starting with the fact that Divock Origi can leave if the right offer comes in with clubs in Turkey keen.

If Zlatan Ibrahimovic does not renew his deal or chooses to retire, it is possible that Milan will sign two strikers. The young options are names like Lois Openda and Folarin Balogun, who are both playing in Ligue 1 currently.

Gianluca Scamcca didn’t have a great season at West Ham and could represent an opportunity, especially if the London club opens up to the formula of a loan with option to buy.

There is also a list of more experienced players too such as Roberto Firmino, who will leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Another profile not to be underestimated is that of Marko Arnautovic.

  1. Forget Arnautovic. Sign Firmino, Scamacca and with Giroud we are set in the attacking dept. Then we need to sign a RW, and LW back up for Leao, a CAM, a Midfielder( Ruben LC), a CB and LB back up to Theo.

    Easy! LOL

  2. We will be lucky if Giroud continue to play like now in next season aswell. Every arrival will be risky, and I would prefer to see Colombo as back up.

  3. Some people just like to speculate rubbish. If the aim is to get a CF better than Origi, then Firmino can be considered. But, if the intention is to get a CF that will name Milan competitive, then considering Firmino is a joke.

  4. Firmino is a 1 in 3 striker, he’s 31 and will be on high wages… he isn’t what we need. He was great at allowing Salah and Mane to score 25 plus goals each. We don’t have goals in our attack except Leao.

I’d go all in for Scamacca, he hasn’t played badly at West Ham, he just hasn’t played or not played in a system that suits him. I’d love for Ibra to stick around so Scamacca can learn from him!!

    1. Fogof ibrahimovic should leave even tonight we don’t want that ass*****le to be here he is one of those people killing milan

      1. He should leave yes and that’s because of his age, Milan sparked up upon his arrival, saying he should leave the way you just stated it is unfair

He tried to ginger this lads when he arrived even when he’s not playing his impact I felt.

        1. That’s what you believe that as*le won’t retire this year he wants money all he cares is money he comes to milan to take chance he make himself big I’m like that I’m lion to scared people, I know people like that they are nothing but robbers we don’t want big mouth who is nagging to his teammates every minute we want quality player

          1. “he wants money all he cares is money”

LOL. You CLEARLY don’t know anything about the person. 😀 😀 😀 😀

            Now STFU. 😀

    2. I think you kind of contradict yourself here. “He was great at allowing Salah and Mane to score 25 plus goals each.” So Firmino would be ideal, because Leao needs service. He’s been our top goalscorer for two seasons in a row. Sign Firmino on a free and instead spend all the money on a world class RW, and then with Firmino you’ll recreate Mane-Firmino-Salah as Leao-Firmino-New RW. Firmino is also coming from a high pressing system like the one Pioli likes to employ. Does Scamacca press?

  5. Fogof ibrahimovic should leave even tonight we don’t want that ass*****le to be here he is one of those people killing milan

  6. I don’t undestand the rage towards Ibrahimovic. The legend is now 42 and he only gets 1m per year from us. Him being unfit is understandable. We pay Origi 4m and Florenzi 3m… and what good have they done for this club?

    1. Hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh legend hhhhhhh ibrahimovic hhhhhhh some people are dumb what did he do to be legend that big mouth as**le

      1. Ibra costs €1m a year and brings in revenue from shirt sales cos he has commercial value. Also his impact in the dressing room/training cammot be understated. But yes, he probably should retire.

      2. 493 goals in 819 matches, nine league titles, 62 goals in 122 matches for Sweden, also some of the goals he’s scored are just outrageous. Considering that there are thousands of professional footballers in the world, it puts him in the .0001%.

  7. If Milan falls for taking yet another injury prone player off Liverpool then I don’t know what to say. Scamcca doesn’t excite me either. I’d get Arnautovic to replace Ibra and any other young striker like Balogun or Wahi.

  8. Scamacca would be great, Arnautovic good and easy to get, Ibrahimovic should retire, Firmino is another Origi, surely Maldini won’t make the same mistake again…

  9. As an Austrian I’m heavily biased but I’d love to see Arnautovic at Milan.
The guy is probably the most talented footballer our country has ever had (and that includes players like Sindelar, Bican, Krankl, Prohaska and even Alaba). But his career has been dragged down by poor character and stupid decisions (like going to China a few years back).
Now he seems to be doing much better in that regard.
Would love to see him getting a last chance to play at a big name name club and in European competitions.
Not much worse than Dzeko for example.
