TMW: Milan admirers of Feyenoord defender but must first sell veteran

By Oliver Fisher -

A new name has emerged in AC Milan’s search for a right-back in Marcus Pedersen, who can leave Feyenoord this summer as per a report.

According to TMW, Pedersen has a contract expiring in 2026 but could try a new adventure, perhaps even in Serie A given there are at least two clubs that would be interested in bringing him to Italy in view of 2023-24.

Torino offered €5.5m for the 23-year-old defender but Wolfsburg have put forward €6m. None of the two offers, however, satisfied Feyenoord, who asked for €8m to let Pedersen leave. Both clubs will raise their bid after making a sale to try to close the deal.

The other Italian team who like the Norwegian are Milan, but Alessandro Florenzi needs to leave before the management try to sign a player in that role, especially given that Davide Calabria is the starter and Pierre Kalulu can also play there.

  1. why no left backs? why all these right backs when we have Florenzi and kalulu who could fill in for Calabria. Now we only have Balo as backup to Theo and hopefully he leaves these summer which means we got no backup

    1. Maybe ‘cos there’s still two Italians left on the right side and the management is desperate to get rid of them? 😀

Seriously though… It is mind-boggling that all the rumors are about RBs and none about LBs as if Theo got injured we’d be screwed – big time.

      1. I don’t think they are trying to replace Calabria. Despite some people thinking he’s bad, we haven’t heard any report about Milan looking for an upgrade. He’s efficient, has decent stats and is a huge leader on the field. Pioli made him his captain. With Ibra and Tonali gone, this team needs strong voices. Calabria is one (you can see on picture he’s leading the team during the run at the first day of practice), as a captain and a homegrown player.

Florenzi is also a leader but he’s not reliable, they’re probably looking to offload him, and the names we hear look more like rotation players than starters for an UCL team.

  2. I see more news about RB than LB. I’m thinking we are good at RB. Just offload Flotenzi and let Kalulu play his original position. The focus should be on finding a suitable LB backup for Theo. But if management is focusing on RB, then that means at least two of the three RB’s in the team must leave. And for LB, I would like to see the Primavera player given a chance
