CM: Tomori departure increasingly likely after Milan disappearance – the latest

Fikayo Tomori, in recent years, has often been the core of AC Milan’s defence, but this season, his importance has faded and a departure is probable.

In the past 12 months, there has been a constant idea that Tomori could leave Milan in the short future. During the summer, Newcastle United were the main threat, but nothing came to fruition as Pierre Kalulu departed.

Then, when the January mercato came around, the Englishman was hunted for by Juventus, but they were unsuccessful, leaving the defender at Milanello. But not for long, as Premier League clubs made attempts at the end of the window, and whilst the club agreed a sale, Tomori chose to stay with the Rossoneri.

Despite this, the idea of an exit continued to linger, and this afternoon, Calciomercato.com report that the defender is ‘increasingly’ likely to leave in June, despite his words last month, as he has effectively disappeared.

For Milan, the preference is to build around Malick Thiaw, Strahinja Pavlovic and Matteo Gabbia, leaving the Englishman open to an exit if a ‘convincing enough offer’ arrives.

The report also relays information from Tuttosport, which states that the former Chelsea defender would be more inclined to say yes to an exit this time around.

  1. Fik should realise and go. He still can play quality football in some other club. Even in Premier League he could get bigger salary . All smart players that left Milan immediately after it was obvious that it is not going in good direction staying in Milan now have better carriers than staying outside Milan first team.

  2. We have always been told that a strong club needs 4 good central defenders – and milan has gabbia, thiaw, tomori and pavlovich. Of these the coach has to choose 2 per match. Concencaio, rightly or wrongly, has no fixed pair and often changes these 2 defenders.

What worries me is that this year most if not all milan players blow hot or cold. All of them have good matches but then flop completely in the next games. This has happened to these 4 central defenders, maignan, theo, leao and now recently even pulisic and fofana seem to have become erratic.

To me all this shows tension, unease, lack of confidence and mistrust within the team. When at some point or other all the team seems to have gone off the boil, then this betrays that there is something deeply wrong within the group. Is it the coach? Is it the management? Is it the owner?
