Tomori ‘excited’ to return but fires warning to Chelsea ahead of Milan’s visit

The game between AC Milan and Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night will have a particular feeling for Fikayo Tomori who will return to face his former club.

Tomori has been nothing short of revolutionary for Milan since his arrival from Chelsea on an initial loan back in January 2021. He has helped transform the team from battling for a Europa League spot to fighting for and winning the Scudetto.

He is regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the league and for good reason having assisted in the reshaping of Milan’s defence under Pioli into a high line that is confidence, aggressive and gives the opposition very little time and space.

Tomori spoke on SportMediaset in view of Wednesday’s match against Chelsea which will see him return to the club where he came through the youth system. The interview will be available in full tomorrow, but they aired a preview this evening.

“They are a great team, strong, with good players. We are focused on our game and we know that if we play our level we can provide a good performance and win the game,” he said (via MilanNews).

“I am excited, I am happy to return to Stamford Bridge to see familiar faces. I want to provide a good performance to help the team and bring the 3 points home: this is what I want to do.”

  1. He will need to get himself together first. Without Kessie in front of him he is so exposed to physically strong attacking players.
