Tomori admits to being ‘happy’ but ‘tired’ after Fiorentina win and thanks the fans

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori has stressed the importance that he and his team-mates continue to maintain their focus and defensive resilience.

Milan left it late to secure a vital three points against Fiorentina but they managed to get over the line thanks to an 82nd-minute strike from Rafael Leao that had the over 71,000-strong crowd at San Siro jumping for joy.

The result moves Milan five points above their city rivals Inter with three games to play, and the Nerazzurri have the pressure on them when they face Udinese away this evening, while Milan know that seven points from their remaining three games would be enough to capture the Scudetto.

Tomori spoke to DAZN after the game to reflect on the win, the team’s performance and the games that are to come, with his words relayed by MilanNews.

“We are happy and I am happy. I’m tired (laughs) but we are happy and we have to continue. There are three games to go and we have to win,” he said.

On conceding only 8 league goals in 2022: “We defend with the whole team, it is a pride not to concede so many goals: it helps us to win and we can continue like this. We hope to continue like this (laughs). But the only important thing is the three points.”

On the fans at San Siro: “When the stadium is full there is more emotion, they push us. We can play with more energy because the fans charge us so much.”
